ASM (A State Of Mind)
A State of Mind (abbreviated as ASM) is an international hip hop act, their music is considered alternative hip hop, but draws influences from other genres like Jazz and Funk. They consist of two MCs, Benjamin Bambach alias ''Green T'' or ''GT Lovecraft'' from Canada and Maik Schindler () alias ''FP'' respectively ''Funk E. Poet'' from Germany, as well as producer/beatmaker Adam Simmons alias ''Rhino'' or ''Fade'' from England. Since 2019 they are signed to ''Chinese Man Records'', a French Indie-label run by band Chinese Man. History The band members met in Frankfurt, where they went to school together. Jean-Christophe Le Saoût (; born 19 July 1975), better known by the stage name Wax Tailor, is a French record producer and DJ. He has released six studio albums collaborating with other artists. Background After being a host on French radio in the Paris suburb of Mantes-La-Jolie, Le Saoût started the French rap group La Formule in the 1990s. He created his label Lab'Oratoire in 1998. Boom Bap
Boom bap is a subgenre and music production style that was prominent in the East Coast during the golden age of hip hop from the late 1980s to the early 1990s. The term "boom bap" is an onomatopoeia that represents the sounds used for the bass (kick) drum and snare drum, respectively. The style is usually recognized by a main drum loop that uses a hard-hitting, acoustic bass drum sample on the downbeats, a snappy acoustic snare drum sample on the upbeats, and an "in your face" audio mix emphasizing the drum loop, and the kick-snare combination in particular.
