The Africa Movie Academy Awards, popularly known as AMAA and The AMA Awards, is presented annually to recognize excellence among professionals working in, or non-African professionals who have contributed to, the African film industry. It was founded by Peace Anyiam-Osigwe and is run through the Africa Film Academy. Peace Anyiam-Osigwe Order of the Federal Republic, MFR (previously Peace Anyiam-Fiberesima; 30 March 1969 – 9 January 2023) was a Nigerian filmmaker and entertainment executive who was called "the queen of Nollywood films". She was the founder of globally acclaimed film ceremony, Africa Movie Academy Awards. ''The Guardian (Nigeria), The Guardian'' documents that she pioneered the screening of Nollywood films at international film festivals. She directed the first music video of hip-hop sensation, P-Square. In 2012, she was bestowed a Order of the Federal Republic, Member of the Order of the Federal Republic by the Nigerian government for her contribution to the entertainment industry. ''Hoodrush'' is a 2012 Nigerian musical thriller film written, produced, and directed by Dimeji Ajibola, and starring OC Ukeje, Bimbo Akintola, and Gabriel Afolayan. It received two nominations at the 9th Africa Movie Academy Awards, Gabriel Afolayan eventually won the award for the category ''Best Actor In A Supporting Role''. The film tells a story of the challenges encountered by two brothers who strive to partake in musical talent shows. Gabriel Afolayan, (born 1 March 1985) also known by his musical stage name G-Fresh, is a Nigerian actor and singer. Education He studied theatre arts at the University of Ibadan. Career He is part of the renowned Afolayan entertainment family that comprises Ade Love, Moji Afolayan, Kunle Afolayan and Aremu Afolayan. As an actor, he won the Best Supporting Actor award for playing "Tavier Jambari" in ''Hoodrush'' (2012). As a musician, he is known mostly for "Awelewa" and "Kokoro Ife".
