AFL Women's Rising Star
The AFL Women's Rising Star award is presented annually to the best young player in the AFL Women's (AFLW) during the home-and-away season. The first award was awarded in 2017. The award has been sponsored by National Australia Bank (NAB) since 2017. Eligibility and voting procedure Every round, two nominations are given to standout young players who performed well during that particular round. To be eligible for nomination, a player must be under 21 years of age on 1 January of that year and not have been previously nominated. Players suspended during the season may be nominated, but cannot win. At the end of the season, each member of a voting panel, which also selects the AFL Women's All-Australian team, awards five votes, four votes, three votes, two votes and one vote to the nominated players they judge the best to fifth-best during the season respectively. Monique Conti (born 9 December 1999) is an Australian rules footballer and basketballer. Conti currently plays for the Richmond Football Club in the AFL Women's (AFLW), having previously played for the Western Bulldogs from 2018 to 2019, and plays for the Melbourne Boomers in the Women's National Basketball League (WNBL), having also played for the Southside Flyers from 2020 to 2023. Sarah Allan (born 19 November 1997) is an Australian rules footballer playing for the Adelaide Football Club in the AFL Women's competition. Early life and career Allan's father was Keith Allan, who played in the South Australian National Football League for Central District Football Club. Natalie "Nat" Grider (born 10 October 2000) is an Australian rules footballer playing for Brisbane in the AFL Women's competition (AFLW). Junior and state football Grider started playing Australian rules football as a teenager with Jindalee Jags. She was also a member of the Brisbane Lions Academy and excelled for the club in the 2018 Winter Series against Greater Western Sydney and Gold Coast.
