A1 Road (Luxembourg)
The Autoroute 1, abbreviated to A1 or otherwise known as the Trier motorway ( lb, Tréierer Autobunn, french: Autoroute de Trèves), is a motorway in Luxembourg. It is long and connects Luxembourg City, in the south, to Wasserbillig, in the east. A few hundred metres to the north of Wasserbillig, it reaches the German border, whereupon it becomes the A64, which leads to Trier. Overview Originally a connection from Luxembourg City to Luxembourg Airport, at Senningerberg, in 1969, the A1 was extended in three stages from 1988 to 1992 to connect to the German border. From 1994 to 1996, two more sections were opened, bypassing the south-east of Luxembourg City and connecting the A1 to the Croix de Gasperich, where it meets the A3 (to Dudelange) and A6 (towards Arlon, in Belgium). Croix De Gasperich
The Croix de Gasperich ( lb, Gaasperech Kräiz, german: Gaspericher Kreuz) is a motorway interchange in Luxembourg City, in southern Luxembourg. It is the junction between three of Luxembourg's six motorways: the western terminus of the A1 continues seamlessly as it meets the eastern terminus of the A6, whilst the A3 passes underneath the two on its way from Luxembourg City to Dudelange. The Victor Bodson Bridge (Luxembourgish: ''Victor-Bodson-Bréck''; French: ''Pont Victor Bodson''; German: ''Victor-Bodson-Brücke'') is a cable-stayed bridge in Hesperange, in southern Luxembourg. It circles the south-eastern suburbs of Luxembourg City, and carries the A1 motorway between Howald and Itzig, over the Alzette valley below. Howald Tunnel
Howald ( lb, Houwald) is a town in the commune of Hesperange, in southern Luxembourg. The town merges almost seamlessly with Luxembourg City's south-eastern suburban quarter of South Bonnevoie, which lies to the north of Howald. , the town has a population of 4,760, making it the most populous town in the commune and the 22nd-most populous in Luxembourg.
