A16 Station
A16 (provisional name) is an MTR station on the Tuen Ma line to be constructed elevated on the bank of Tuen Mun River at the current site of Tuen Mun Swimming Pool. The construction of the station is gazetted as part of the Tuen Mun South extension by the Hong Kong Government in January 2022. The station is expected to open for service in 2030. Station layout The station will be built with three levels, with station entrances at grade, concourse one level above ground, and platforms above the concourse. The station will have an island platform, and two siding tracks on each side of the main tracks. Tuen Mun South Extension
The Tuen Mun South extension is a proposed extension of the MTR rapid transit network in Hong Kong. It extends the existing train service of Tuen Ma line to the tenatively named A16 station in Tuen Mun Area 16 and ultimately a new western terminus, Tuen Mun South (), near Tuen Mun Ferry Pier. The extension will extend southwards from the current western terminus, Tuen Mun station. The journey time from Tuen Mun South to Tuen Mun is estimated to be approximately 4 minutes. Tuen Mun
Tuen Mun or Castle Peak is an area near the mouth of Tuen Mun River and Castle Peak Bay in the New Territories, Hong Kong. It was one of the earliest settlements in what is now Hong Kong and can be dated to the Neolithic period. In the more recent past, it was home to many Tanka fishermen who gathered at Castle Peak Bay. Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation
The Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC; ) is a Hong Kong wholly government-owned railway and land asset manager. It was established in 1982 under the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation Ordinance for the purposes of operating the Kowloon–Canton Railway (KCR), and to construct and operate other new railways. On 2 December 2007, the MTR Corporation Limited (MTRCL), another railway operator in Hong Kong, took over the operations of the KCR network under a 50-year service concession agreement, which can be extended. Michael Tien
Michael Tien Puk-sun (born 25 August 1950) is a Hong Kong politician, businessman and member of the Legislative Council for New Territories North West. He is the founder and chairman of the G2000 clothing retail chain and former chairman of the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC). He was formerly a member of the Liberal Party, which was led by his elder brother, James Tien, and a member of the New People's Party. Island Platform
An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks.
