Amorphophallus Gigas
''Amorphophallus gigas'' is a plant in the Arum, or Calla Lily, Family, (Araceae) native to Sumatra. It is also known as ''Amorphophallus brooksii''. It resembles its near relative Amorphophallus titanum in having a very large Spadix (botany), spadix surrounded by a very large spathe. This inflorescence can be up to 11 ft 4 in ( 3.4 meters) in height. The tuber, a corm is second in size only to ''A. titanum'' at up to 154 pounds (70 kilograms) in weight. References

Arapaima Gigas
''Arapaima gigas'', also known as pirarucu, is a species of arapaima native to the basin of the Amazon River. Once believed to be the sole species in the genus, it is among the largest freshwater fish. The species is an obligate air-breather, so needs to come to the surface regularly to gulp air. Taxonomy ''Arapaima gigas'' was originally regarded as the only species in the genus ''Arapaima'', but the subsequent identification of further species, together with the rarity of specimens and the loss of several type specimens, has led to some uncertainty regarding classification within the genus and the identity of described individuals. Description The species is among the largest known freshwater fish, commonly measuring and reportedly exceptionally reaching lengths of up to . Adults may weigh up to . ''A. gigas'' has a streamlined body with dorsal and anal fins set well back towards the tail. While the body is mainly gray to gray-green, its Brazilian local name ''pirarucu'' d ...

Athletes Gigas
An athlete (also sportsman or sportswoman) is a person who competes in one or more sports that involve physical strength, speed, or endurance. Athletes may be professionals or amateurs. Most professional athletes have particularly well-developed physiques obtained by extensive physical training and strict exercise accompanied by a strict dietary regimen. Definitions The word "athlete" is a romanization of the el, άθλητὴς, ''athlētēs'', one who participates in a contest; from ἄθλος, ''áthlos'' or ἄθλον, ''áthlon'', a contest or feat. The primary definition of "sportsman" according to Webster's ''Third Unabridged Dictionary'' (1960) is, "a person who is active in sports: as (a): one who engages in the sports of the field and especially in hunting or fishing." Physiology Athletes involved in isotonic exercises have an increased mean left ventricular end-diastolic volume and are less likely to be depressed. Due to their strenuous physical activities, ...

Arius Gigas
The giant sea catfish (''Arius gigas''), also called the ewe or the marine catfish, is a species of sea catfish in the family Ariidae. It was described by George Albert Boulenger in 1911, originally under the genus ''Tachysurus''.Boulenger, G. A., 1911 (24 Feb.) ef. 579''Catalogue of the fresh-water fishes of Africa in the British Museum (Natural History).'' Archispirostreptus Gigas
''Archispirostreptus gigas'', known as the giant African millipede or shongololo, is the largest extant species of millipede, growing up to in length, in circumference. It has approximately 256 legs, although the number of legs changes with each molting so it can vary according to each individual. It is a widespread species in lowland parts of East Africa, from Mozambique to Kenya, but rarely reaches altitudes above . It lives mostly in forests, but can also be found in areas of coastal habitat that contain at least a few trees. It is native to Southern Arabia, especially Dhofar. In general, giant millipedes have a life expectancy of about 7–10 years. Giant millipedes have two main modes of defence if they feel threatened: curling into a tight spiral exposing only the hard exoskeleton, and secretion of an irritating liquid from pores on their body. This liquid can be harmful if introduced into the eyes or mouth. Because of this defense, ''A. gigas'' is one of the few inverteb ...

Amorphophallus
''Amorphophallus'' (from Ancient Greek , "without form, misshapen" + ''phallos'', "penis", referring to the shape of the prominent spadix) is a large genus of some 200 tropical and subtropical tuberous herbaceous plants from the ''Arum'' family (Araceae), native to Asia, Africa, Australia and various oceanic islands. A few species are edible as "famine foods" after careful preparation to remove irritating chemicals. The genus includes the Titan arum (''A. titanum'') of Indonesia, which has the largest inflorescence of any plant in the genus, and is also known as the 'corpse flower' for the pungent odour it produces during its flowering period, which can take up through seven years of growth before it occurs. History The oldest systematic record of the plants was in 1692, when Van Rheede tot Drakenstein published descriptions of two plants. The name "''Amorphophallus''" was first mentioned in 1834 by the Dutch botanist Blume.Hetterscheid, W., & Ittenbach, S. (1990). Everything ...
