A. Harsha
Harshavardhana (IAST Harṣa-vardhana; –647 CE) was the emperor of Kannauj and ruled northern India from 606 to 647 CE. He was the son of Prabhakaravardhana, the king of Thanesar who had defeated the Alchon Huns, Alchon Hun, and the younger brother of Rajyavardhana, son of Prabhakaravardhana and next king of Thanesar. He was a powerful ruler of the Pushyabhuti dynasty. At the height of Harsha's power, his realm covered much of northern and northwestern India, with the Narmada River as its southern boundary. The Kingdom of Kannauj was a Monarchy, kingdom in Northern India during the Medieval India, Early Mediaeval Era. It was established by Harivarman in 510 who was crowned Maharaja of Kannauj by the Gupta dynasty, Magadhan Emperor. During the period, the city of Kannauj grew in prominence in North India. The kingdom was focal point of the Kannauj Wars, which resulted in its annexation by the Pratihara dynasty, Gurjara Empire. Kannauj became the most important city in North India during this period, and hence was contested by the three great powers of the subcontinent of the period the Gurjara Empire under the Pratihara dynasty, the Bengal Empire under the Pala dynasty, and the Rashtrakutas of Manyakheta.
