A.P.S. Zakynthos (Greece, Greek: Α.Π.Σ. Ζάκυνθος, Αθλητικός Ποδοσφαιρικός Σύλλογος Ζάκυνθος) is a Greece, Greek professional Association football, football club, based in Zakynthos (city), Zakynthos, Greece. It was founded in 1961. History The club was officially founded in 1969 after the merger of two other local clubs, one of them founded in 1961, explaining the older foundation date on the team's logo. The team had the chance to win promotion to Beta Ethniki in 1973 and in 1975 when they won the local championship of Ileia - Zakynthos, thus taking part to the Promotion Play-Offs against other local unions' champions from southern Greece. However, they failed to be promoted, finishing in their promotion group's 2nd place both of the times while only the 1st teams of each Play - Off group were to be promoted. The Gamma Ethniki ( el, Γ΄ Εθνική Ερασιτεχνική Κατηγορία, C National Amateur Division) is the third highest football league in Greece. History The Gamma Ethniki began in 1965 as an amateur championship, while in 1983 it was changed to professional. Although not literally national (it is divided into ''North'' and ''South'' groups), Football League 2 is considered as a national division. On 3 August 2010, it was announced that the division had been renamed ''Football League 2''. From season 2013–14, the football League 2 is merged by fourth division championship (Delta Ethniki) and renamed again Gamma Ethniki. Cameron Saul (born 28 June 1995) is an English professional footballer who plays as a forward for Episkopi. Career Youth Saul started his career with Luton Town academy aged 12 having impressed playing with his school team. After failing to make the breakthrough in to the first team, he moved on to non-league side Wingate & Finchley. After two years with the club, Saul left to take a scholarship opportunity in America. The 2016–17 Gamma Ethniki was the 34th season since the official establishment of the third tier of Greek football in 1983. It started on 11 September 2016 and ended at May 2017. 61 teams were separated into four groups, according to geographical criteria. The 2014–15 Football League is the second division of the Greek professional football system and the fifth season under the name Football League after previously being known as ''Beta Ethniki''. This is the second season since 1982–83, and the third season overall, that the league has more than one group. The groups are created based on geographical criteria. Notes Doxa Drama and Aris withdrew from the league before the North Group draw. As a result of this the group left with only 12 teams and Fokikos moved from the South Group to the North Group. The 2008–09 Gamma Ethniki was the 26th season since the official establishment of the third tier of Greek football in 1983.
