A.L. Freehafer
Albertus LeRoy (A.L.) Freehafer (February 12, 1868, in Butler, Richland County, Ohio – October 28, 1940, in Payette, Idaho) was a Democratic politician from Idaho. He was a son of Andrew Freehafer and Martha Ellen Kinton, both natives of Richland County, Ohio. From 1907 to 1908, he represented Washington County, Idaho, as a member of the House of Representatives, and was a minority leader in the assembly. He served two terms as a state senator. As senator, he represented Washington County, Idaho, from 1909 to 1912 and Payette County, Idaho, from 1929 to 1934. In 1911, Senator Freehafer introduced a bill, written by L.L. Burtenshaw, to the state legislature of Idaho to create Adams County. The bill passed on March 3, 1911. In 1924, A.L. Freehafer was a Democratic nominee for Governor of Idaho, but finished behind H.F. Samuels, the Progressive candidate, losing by only 81 points. The Republican governor, Charles C. Butler, Ohio
Butler is a village in Richland County in the U.S. state of Ohio. It is part of the Mansfield, Ohio Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 933 at the 2010 census. Early history Before Butler was founded and named, it was the site of the Delaware Indians hunting ground. Helltown, as the Indians called it, was chosen for its plentiful wild game and fertile farmlands. As early as 1808, settlers were living in Northeastern Worthington township, however the area that makes up Butler was not settled until another 10 years. Joseph Craig was the first white man to settle in the Butler area. James Monroe, the fifth president of the United States, had given Craig a land grant in 1823. Samuel Lewis, another interesting man, traveled through the area in 1809. On January 7, 1813, Lewis organized and divided Richland area into townships. Butler became Worthington township. Moses Alexander
Moses Alexander (November 13, 1853 – January 4, 1932) was an American businessman and politician who served as the 11th governor of Idaho, the second elected Jewish governor of a U.S. state, and the first who actually practiced that religion. Jewish California Governor Washington Bartlett, was elected in 1887, but had converted to Christianity. Moses Alexander served from 1915 until 1919, and remains the state's sole Jewish chief executive. Early life and career Born in Obrigheim, then in the Kingdom of Bavaria, now Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, Alexander emigrated to the United States in 1867 and settled in New York City. Richland County is a county located in the U.S. state of Ohio. As of the 2020 census, the population was 124,936. Its county seat is Mansfield. The county was created in 1808 and later organized in 1813. It is named for the fertile soil found there. Richland County is included in the Mansfield, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area as well as the Mansfield- Ashland- Bucyrus, OH Combined Statistical Area.
