Asociación Deportiva Guanacasteca is a Costa Rican football team based in Nicoya, Guanacaste. They currently play in the Costa Rican First Division. Their home stadium is Estadio Chorotega. History Origins The club was founded on 1973 after amateur team ''Carrillo FC'', that won the 1972 third division amateur championship, the team relocated to Nicoya in order to sign local players to be ready for the Second Division promotional round, also renaming the team as ''Selección de Nicoya'', and winning the promotional round. The LINAFA Second B, also known as the Costa Rican Third Division, is a Costa Rican football league below the Costa Rican Second Division and above the LINAFA 3rd Division in the Costa Rican football pyramid. The league is very competitive as only one team per season is promoted. History At the beginning of the 1920s, amateur soccer became established in the various cantons of Costa Rica. Puntarenas () is a city in the Puntarenas canton of Puntarenas Province, on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. As the seat of the Municipality of Puntarenas canton, it is awarded the title of city, which is made from the Puntarenas, Chacarita and El Roble districts. And as the city of the first canton of the province, it is the capital city of the Puntarenas Province as well, according to the Administrative divisions of Costa Rica. Escazú is the second canton in the province of San José in Costa Rica. The canton lies west of the San José Canton and its whole territory is part of the Greater Metropolitan Area. The canton was one of the earliest established in the country, in 7 December 1848.
