"A-round the Corner (Beneath the Berry Tree)", also titled "Ay-round the Corner (Bee-hind The Bush)" or "A-round the Corner (Be-neath The Berry Tree)", is a traditional popular song adapted by Josef Marais, from the repertoire of Marais and Miranda. The title was first published in February 1952, but an earlier version was registered in August 1940. The most popular version was recorded by Jo Stafford on 10 December 1951 with accompaniment by her partner Paul Weston and the Norman Luboff Choir. It was issued on Columbia 39653 and entered the Billboard chart in March 1952, peaking at number nine, also making number 12 on the ''Cash Box'' chart. A recording by The Weavers and Gordon Jenkins on Decca charted in April and reached number 19. In the UK, the song entered the chart based on sheet music sales in April, and reached number one in May, holding the top spot for three weeks. Stella Tanner (1 January 1925 – 26 March 2012) was an English radio and television actress. Tanner was born in 1925 and studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). She left her focus on dramatic acting to form the Tanner Sisters with her sister, Frances Tanner. Together, the Tanner Sisters made hundreds of appearances on British radio and television during the 1950s, even performing alongside Buddy Holly in March 1958. Edmundo Ros OBE, FRAM (7 December 1910 – 21 October 2011), born Edmund William Ross, was a Trinidadian-Venezuelan musician, vocalist, arranger and bandleader who made his career in Britain. The Stargazers were a British vocal group, jointly founded in 1949 by Cliff Adams and Ronnie Milne. Other original members were Marie Benson, Fred Datchler and Dick James. Very shortly after the group made their first broadcasts with BBC Radio on such programmes as '' Workers' Playtime'' and ''The Goon Show'', Dick James decided to resume his career as a solo vocalist, left the group, and was replaced by Bob Brown. Ronnie Milne took care of the musical arranging, while Cliff Adams became their manager, in addition to contributing scores for the group. The Weavers
The Weavers were an American folk music quartet based in the Greenwich Village area of New York City originally consisting of Lee Hays, Pete Seeger, Ronnie Gilbert, and Fred Hellerman. Founded in 1948, the group sang traditional folk songs from around the world, as well as blues, gospel music, children's songs, labor songs, and American ballads. The group sold millions of records at the height of their popularity, including the first folk song to reach No. 1 on popular music charts, their recording of Lead Belly's "Goodnight, Irene." Despite their popularity, the Weavers were blacklisted during much of the 1950s. During the Red Scare, members of the group were followed by the FBI and blacklisted, with Seeger and Hayes called in to testify before the House Committee on Un-American Activities Seeger left the group in 1957.
