''99.9'' ( es, 99.9: La frecuencia del terror, lit=99.9: The Frequency of Terror, links=no) is a 1997 Spanish horror film directed and co-written by Agustí Villaronga. The film stars María Barranco as Lara, the host of a radio show focused on psychic and paranormal phenomena, who learns that her ex-boyfriend has been found dead in a small Spanish village. When she travels to the village, she discovers that he had been performing experiments to connect with otherworldly spirits. The film's title has been described as referring to both the dial of a radio station and as an inversion of "666" (the "number of the beast"). Cinematographer Javier Aguirresarobe served as director of photography on ''99.9'', and composer Javier Navarrete provided the score. Agustí Villaronga
Agustí Villaronga Riutort (; 4 March 1953 – 22 January 2023) was a Spanish film director, screenwriter and actor. He directed several feature films, a documentary, three projects for television and three shorts. His film '' Moon Child'' was entered into the 1989 Cannes Film Festival. In 2011 he won the Goya Award for Best Director for ''Black Bread''. The Catalan-language film was selected as the Spanish entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 84th Academy Awards, but it did not make the final shortlist. Life and career Agustí Villaronga was born on 4 March 1953 in Palma, his grandparents had been itinerant puppeteers and his father was a child of the Spanish Civil War, a fact that would resurface repeatedly in the director's filmography. Biography From a very young age he became interested in cinema and began shooting homemade short films with his siblings and was attracted to the arts in general.
