''98 Degrees'' (stylized as ''98°'') is the debut album by American male vocal group 98 Degrees. The album debuted and peaked at number 145 and number 88 on the U.S. ''Billboard'' 200 and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums respectively. The album sold over 500,000 copies in the U.S. alone. 98 Degrees (stylized as 98°) is an American pop and R&B vocal group consisting of four vocalists: the group's founding member Jeff Timmons, brothers Nick and Drew Lachey, and Justin Jeffre. The group was formed by Timmons in Los Angeles, California, although all of its members originate from Ohio. Unlike most boy bands, they formed independently and were later picked up by a record label, rather than being assembled by a label or a producer. They have sold over 10 million records worldwide and achieved eight top 40 singles in the U.S. In the late 90s to the early 00s, the group reached top-five on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 with the songs " Give Me Just One Night (Una Noche)", " Because of You", " The Hardest Thing" and "Thank God I Found You" (with Mariah Carey and Joe); the latter as featured artists, topping the chart also making it their first and only number-one song. Justin Paul Jeffre (born February 25, 1973) is an American pop singer and politician. A long-time resident and vocal supporter of Cincinnati, Jeffre is probably best known as a member and bass singer of the multi-platinum-selling boy band 98 Degrees. The group thrived in the era of boy bands, including Boyz II Men, Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync. Jeffrey Brandon Timmons (born April 30, 1973) is an American pop singer, songwriter and producer and founding member of the Grammy-nominated pop group 98 Degrees. Career Rise of 98 Degrees Timmons was the founding member of 98 Degrees. While studying psychology at Kent State, Timmons decided to move to Los Angeles to pursue a career in entertainment. The ''Billboard'' Hot 100 is the music industry standard record chart in the United States for songs, published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine. Chart rankings are based on sales (physical and digital), radio play, and online streaming in the United States. The weekly tracking period for sales was initially Monday to Sunday when Nielsen started tracking sales in 1991, but was changed to Friday to Thursday in July 2015.
