Radio broadcasting is transmission of audio (sound), sometimes with related metadata, by radio waves to radio receivers belonging to a public audience. WINZ (940 kHz) is a sports formatted AM radio station that serves Miami-Fort Lauderdale and their suburbs. The station primarily airs syndicated programming from Fox Sports Radio with some local sports talk and game coverage. Its daytime signal reaches as far north as Ft. Pierce, as far west as Ft. Myers and Naples, and as far south as Cuba. The station has managed to score ratings in the Ft. Myers-Naples radio market despite its transmitter being over 100 miles away. WINZ's studios are located in the iHeartMedia complex in Miramar and the transmitter site is in Miami Gardens. WINE (AM)
WINE (940 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station broadcasting a classic rock format, simulcast from WRKI (95.1 FM) until January 2023. Licensed to Brookfield, Connecticut, it serves the Danbury area. The station is owned by Townsquare Media. By day, WINE transmits with 680 watts, but because 940 AM is a Canadian and Mexican clear channel frequency, WINE reduces power at night to only four watts to avoid interference. WCIT (940 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station in Lima, Ohio. The station, along with FM sister stations WEGE, WWSR and WFGF, share studio facilities on Town Square Rd. in Lima. WCIT must operate with reduced power after local sunset to avoid interference with a Canadian clear channel signal, reserved for Montreal by international treaty (it was held by CINW until that station's shutdown in 2010). History Originally broadcasting only during the daytime hours, WCIT was founded in 1959 by the owners of ''The Lima Citizen''. KYNO (940 AM) is a radio station licensed to Fresno, California and is owned by John Ostlund and Katrina Ostlund. KYNO airs an oldies format, switching to Christmas music for much of December. KYNO's radio studios and offices are on Fulton Street in Fresno and its transmitter is off Avenue 384 in Monson, California. KYNO operates with 50,000 watts around the clock, the highest power permitted for American AM radio stations. 940 KYNO is the most powerful Oldies radio station in America with daytime coverage from Sacramento to Bakersfield and throughout the Central Coast of California. KMER
KMER (940 AM) is an American radio station broadcasting on 940 kHz and is licensed to Kemmerer, Wyoming. It primarily broadcasts a country format, but occasionally broadcasts local high school football and basketball games from Kemmerer as well. KMER has national news at the top of the hour and weather during commercial breaks. KMER has a sister station KDWY 105.3 FM, which is licensed to Diamondville. Prior to August 2006, KMER operated on 950 kHz with a higher power, 5,000 watts. It was formerly a daytimer, signing off at local sunset. In order to accommodate nearby KOVO AM 960's move from Provo, Utah to Bluffdale, Utah (which ultimately did not happen), KMER was forced to change its frequency from 950 to 940 and lower its power so as to not interfere with KOVO.
