Gaumee Film Awards
The Gaumee Film Awards aka Dhivehi Film Awards are presented by National Centre for the Arts to honour both artistic and technical excellence of professionals in the Maldivian film industry. The Gaumee Film Award ceremony is the oldest film events in Maldives. The ceremony had been sponsored by various private organisations in the past as well as in present provisions. A live ceremony was broadcast to television audiences. History A meeting was arranged at MCM on 30 October 1993, once the government decides to hold a Film Festival to honor the film industry. The awards were first introduced in 1994. Out of the twenty two people invited from the fraternity, only ten people showed up for the meeting. Ibrahim Jihad
Ibrahim Jihaad Shavee commonly known as Ibrahim Jihad (born 30 November 1980) is a Maldivian actor. Career Abdul Faththaah's horror film '' Eynaa'' was released in 2004, which appears Sheela Najeeb, Mohamed Manik, Ahmed Shah, Khadheeja Ibrahim Didi, Jihad and Nashidha Mohamed as six colleagues who go on a picnic to a haunted uninhabited island and their battle for survival. The film garnered critical appreciation specially for its technical department and was a commercial success. The following year, Jihad reunited with Abdul Faththaah for his romantic disaster film, '' Hureemey Inthizaarugaa'' (2005) cast along with Ravee Farooq, Mariyam Zuhura, Waleedha Waleed and Neena Saleem. The film, heavily relied on the effect of the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake on the Maldives, received favorable reviews from critics though it failed to perform financially. Zeenath Abbas
Fathimath Zeenath (born 14 August 1978), commonly known as Zeenath Abbas is a Maldivian actress. She has established a career in Maldivian films and is the recipient of a Gaumee Film Award. Making her screen debut alongside Reeko Moosa Manik in the song "Edheythee Reethi Moona", her first film release was Mohamed Rasheed directed drama film '' Kuhveriya'' (1998). She next starred in Mariyam Shauqee's acclaimed family drama television series ''Kahthiri'' (1998) followed by a supporting role in Ali Musthafa-directed ''Umurah'' (1999) and Amjad Ibrahim-directed family drama ''Ainbehge Loabi Firiehge Vaajib'' (2000). ''Aniyaa'' is a 2014 Maldivian family drama film directed by Ahmed Nimal. Ismail Rasheed
Ismail Rasheed (born 20 April 1976) is a Maldivians, Maldivian film actor and director. He has established a career in Maldivian films and is the recipient of several awards, including a Gaumee Film Awards, Gaumee Film Award. Adam Rizwee
Adam Rizwee is a Maldivian film actor. Career In 2014, Rizwee made his film debut in the Aishath Fuad Thaufeeg directed art film Hulhudhaan in a minor role. In 2015 he was cast in Ali Shifau-directed romantic film '' Emme Fahu Vindha Jehendhen'' as a doctor, alongside Mohamed Jumayyil and Mariyam Majudha. The film, narrating the struggle and challenges a happily married couple undergo, was the highest grossing Maldivian film of the year, and was a critical success. Mohamed Faisal is a Maldivian film actor, editor and director. Career Faisal made his film debut with the romantic film ''Loaiybahtakaa'' (2009), written and directed by Yoosuf Shafeeu in which he stars as businessman from a wealthy family struggling to express his feelings. The romantic drama, co-starring Sheela Najeeb, Fathimath Fareela and Yoosuf Shafeeu, tells the story of unrequited love, and proved to be a commercial success. His performance in the film garnered him a nomination at 1st Maldives Film Awards ceremony. This was followed by Ali Shifau-directed family drama ''Dhin Veynuge Hithaamaigaa'' (2010) which showcases discrimination against the islanders, family revenge and fatherhood responsibilities. Ahmed Saeed is a Maldivian film actor and director. Career 1997–2010: Debut and early releases On 13 June 1997, Saeed made his screen debut in a video single alongside Hassan Afeef and Mariyam Nisha. Afterwards, he played a role in Yoosuf Rafeeu's ''Dhiriulhumakee Mieebaa?''. He made his official film debut in Fathimath Nahula's debut direction '' Fahuneyvaa'' (1998), starring opposite Hussain Sobah, Jamsheedha Ahmed and Mariyam Nisha which portrays the love-conflict of a man between a prominent stage performer and a deaf-mute poor girl. Aishath Rishmy
Aishath Rishmy Rameez (born 15 November 1985) is a Maldivian actress film producer and director. Early life Born in Malé, Maldives, Rishmy is the daughter of actor Aminath Rasheedha. She is the elder sister of actress Mariyam Azza. They reside in Vilingili since the early days when the island was made a satellite town of Male. Rishmy completed her secondary education from Aminiya School and accomplished her higher education from Centre for Higher Secondary Education.
