84th Mixed Brigade
The 84th Mixed Brigade ( es, 84.ª Brigada Mixta), was a mixed brigade of the Spanish Republican Army in the Spanish Civil War. It was formed in March 1937 with battalions of the Iron Column ( es, Columna de Hierro) and was disbanded after the tragic events at Mora de Rubielos when 46 soldiers were shot by firing squad in a decimation following the brigade's Battle of Teruel December combats in harsh winter conditions.Carlos Engel, ''Historia de las Brigadas Mixtas del E. The Iron Column ( ca, Columna de Ferro, es, Columna de Hierro) was a Valencian anarchist militia column formed during the Spanish Civil War to fight against the military forces of the Nationalist Faction that had rebelled against the Second Spanish Republic. Carabineros
The was an armed carabiniers force of Spain under both the monarchy and the Second Republic. The formal mission of this paramilitary gendarmerie was to patrol the coasts and borders of the country, operating against fraud and smuggling. 82nd Mixed Brigade
The 82nd Mixed Brigade was a unit of the Spanish Republican Army created during the Spanish Civil War. It came to operate on the Battle of Teruel, Teruel and Levante Offensive, Levante fronts. History The unit was created in March 1937 in the eastern sector of the Teruel front, employing a battalion of the POUM, anarchist militiamen of the First Confederal Column and regular troops. For the leadership of the brigade, the infantry commander Rafael Blasco Borreguero, while Gabriel Rodríguez Cabezas was appointed chief of staff; Melecio Álvarez Garrido was appointed as commissar. The Levantine Army was a unit of the Spanish Republican Army that operated during the Spanish Civil War. Under its jurisdiction were the Republican forces originally deployed on the Teruel front and, later, on the Levante front. It played an important role during the Battle of Teruel and during the Levante Offensive.
