7th Pearl International Film Festival
The 7th Pearl International Film Festival took place in Kampala, Uganda from 6th to 10 November 2017. Rain won Best Picture. First time director Daniel Mugerwa won the best director prize. Pearl International Film Festival
The Pearl International Film Festival (PIFF), is an annual film festival held in Kampala, Uganda. It has been described as one of the biggest film events in Uganda. PIFF is a non-governmental organization founded by Moses Magezi and established in 2011 to develop and promote film and other cultural industries as catalyst for the regional social and economic growth. The first edition of PIFF happened at the National Theatre and still will holds other edition every May. The festival The annual multi disciplinary arts and cultural festival is PIFF’s major activity; the festival is an all-arts affair, with a week of screenings of the best local cinema and an awarding evening Gala. Love Faces (film)
''Love Faces'' is a Ugandan drama thriller film written and directed by Usama Mukwaya. It is Mukwaya's feature film directorial debut, and stars Laura Kahunde, Moses Kiboneka Jr., Patriq Nkakalukanyi and Salome Elizabeth in leading roles. The film had a special screening on 31 August 2017 at the Uganda Film Festival 2017. It had its official release on 4 January 2018. Plot Sherry decides to break up with her longtime love Joshua after a disagreement. Joshua's best friend Salim, who wants them to make peace, intervenes. Maria, Sherry's workmate shows up to help her move out. When Maria and Salim are away, a burglar breaks into the house with Joshua and Sherry inside. Joshua realizes after the incident that he still loves her and wants to take all that has happened back. However, Sherry has already made up her mind to leave. Mariam Ndagire
Mariam Ndagire (born 16 May 1971), is a Ugandan singer, entertainer, actress, playwright, film director, and film producer. Beginnings and education She was born in Kampala, Uganda's capital city, to Sarah Nabbutto and Buganda's Prince Kizito Ssegamwenge. She attended ''Buganda Road Primary School'', before transferring to ''Kampala High School'', where she completed her O-level education. For her A-Level studies, she attended Trinity College Nabbingo, in Wakiso District, where she graduated with a High School Diploma. She went on to obtain a Higher Diploma in Marketing from Makerere University Business School in Nakawa. Later, she was awarded a ''Diploma in Music, Dance and Drama'', from Makerere University, Uganda's oldest and largest public university.
