7th Lagos State House Of Assembly
The 7th Lagos State House of Assembly was the legislative branch of the Lagos State Government inaugurated on 4 June 2011. The assembly ran its course till 3 June 2015. The assembly is unicameral with 40 representatives elected from each constituencies of the state. The Speaker of the 7th Legislative Assembly was Rt. Hon Adeyemi Ikuforiji and the Deputy speaker was Hon. Musibau Kolawole Taiwo. The election of representative for the 8th legislative assembly was held on 28 April 2015. Powers and duties The legislative function of the Assembly is to make law by passing bills, which must be endorsed by the two-thirds majority of the house. Lagos State House Of Assembly
The Lagos State House of Assembly is the state legislature of Lagos State. It is situated along Governor's Avenue in the state capital, Ikeja. The House of Assembly is currently under the All Progressives Congress political party which is the current ruling party in Lagos State. There have been nine different house of assemblies, the very first one was inaugurated 2 October 1979 and the present one was inaugurated 7 June 2019. There are forty members of the House of Assembly, two represent one of the twenty various local government areas in Lagos. Adeyemi Ikuforiji
Sabit Adeyemi Ikuforiji (; born 24 August 1958) is a Nigerian economist and politician who served as speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly from 2005 to 2015. He was charged alongside his former personal assistant Oyebode Atoyebi on a 54-count charge of money laundering amounting to 333.8 million Nigerian naira. He was acquitted. Early life Sabit Adeyemi Ikuforiji was born on 24 August 1958 in Epe, Local Government area of Lagos State southwestern Nigeria. He attended Local Authority Central School in Epe before he proceeded to Epe Grammar School where he obtained the West Africa School Certificate in July 1975. He received a bachelor's and master's degrees in economics from Babeș-Bolyai University and Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies respectively. All Progressives Congress
The All Progressives Congress (APC) is one of the two major contemporary political parties in Nigeria, along with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
