7th IIFA Awards
The 2006 IIFA Awards, officially known as the 7th International Indian Film Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the International Indian Film Academy honoured the best films of 2005 and took place between 15 and 17 June 2006. Dubai, with its old world charm and new age dynamism played host to the 3 day IIFA Weekend and its many events. The official ceremony took place on 17 June 2006, at the Dubai International Convention Centre, in Dubai, UAE. During the ceremony, IIFA Awards were awarded in 29 competitive categories. The ceremony was televised in India and internationally on Star Plus. Actors Fardeen Khan and Lara Dutta co-hosted the ceremony. Fardeen had also co-hosted the 2005 IIFA awards while Lara had hosted the 2002 awards The weekend began with the IIFA Inaugural Press Conference. Dubai International Convention Centre
The Dubai International Exhibition and Convention Centre was built in 1979 by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The complex comprises the original 39-story office tower, the World Trade Centre Residence, eight exhibition halls, the Dubai International Convention Centre, which can accommodate more than 4500 delegates in its multi-purpose hall when set in auditorium style, a business club, and residential apartments with a leisure club. Provoked (film)
''Provoked'' is a 2006 British biographical drama film, directed by Jag Mundhra. It stars Aishwarya Rai, Naveen Andrews, Miranda Richardson, Robbie Coltrane, Nandita Das and Steve McFadden. The film is loosely based on the true story of Kiranjit Ahluwalia, who unintentionally killed her abusive husband. Cinematography for the film was handled by Madhu Ambat. The film's score and soundtrack was composed by A. R. Rahman, and the theme song for the film, ''Alive'', was composed by Rahman and sung by Karen David, who has a small cameo in the film.
