The 7th Politburo of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), officially the Political Bureau of the 7th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, was elected by the 1st Plenary Session of the 7th Central Committee, in the immediate aftermath of the 7th WPK Congress. 7th Central Committee Of The Workers' Party Of Korea
The 7th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea was elected by the 7th Congress on 9 May 2016, and remained in session until the election of the 8th Central Committee on 10 January 2021. In between party congresses and specially convened conferences the Central Committee is the highest decision-making institution in the WPK and North Korea. The Central Committee is not a permanent institution and delegates day-to-day work to elected bodies, such as the Presidium, the Politburo, the Executive Policy Bureau, the Central Military Commission and the Control Commission in the case of the 7th Central Committee. It convenes meetings, known as "Plenary Session of the ermCentral Committee", to discuss major policies. Only full members have the right to vote, but if a full member cannot attend a plenary session, the person's spot is taken over by an alternate. Kwak Pom-gi
Kwak Pom-gi (born 20 November 1939) is a North Korean government official. After graduating from Huichon Industrial College, he began his career in 1983 as a machine factory manager, progressing through the machinery bureau of the Workers' Party of Korea, becoming an alternate member of the party's 6th Central Committee in 1993. He has been Vice-Premier of the government from 1998 to 2010, and is a member of the Secretariat of the Workers' Party of Korea. He is described as a "technocrat" in the North Korean leadership. Im Chol-ung (, born 27 October 1961) is a North Korean politician. Im was a Vice Premier of North Korea. He is also an alternate member of the Politburo of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and a full member of Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, its Central Committee. Im's early career was with rail transport in North Korea, and his rise is seen as a continued effort to improve the sector. Ri Yong-ho (diplomat)
Ri Yong-ho (; ; born 10 July 1956) was a North Korean politician and diplomat who served as Minister of Foreign Affairs of North Korea from 2016 to 2020. He was reportedly executed in 2022. Ri was known as a skillful negotiator with experience in negotiating with the United States on the North Korean nuclear program. Kim Nung-o (, born in the late 1960s) is a North Korean politician. He is the chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) Party Committee of Pyongyang. Kim is also a full member of the Central Committee of the WPK and an alternate member of its Politburo. Career Kim Nung-o was born in the late 1960s. He was educated at Kim Il-sung University. Kim Su-gil
Kim Su-gil (, born 1950) is a North Korean general and politician. He was the director of the General Political Bureau of the Korean People's Army (KPA) from when he replaced Kim Jong-gak in May 2018 until January 2021. Career Kim Su-gil is a career soldier. In his early career, he held posts in the General Political Bureau of the Korean People's Army (KPA) and its General Staff Department. On 24 April 1992 he was promoted to the rank of '' sojang'' (Major General). On 15 April 2010 he was promoted to ''chungjang'' (Lieutenant General). In the fall of 2013 he was temporarily demoted to ''sojang'' again, like many other high-ranking KPA soldiers. He currently holds a rank of four-star general. General Choe Pu-il (; born 6 March 1944) is a North Korean politician who served as head of North Korea's Ministry of People's Security. Biography In April 1992, he was promoted to Major General and to General in October 1995. After serving as Deputy Chief of the General Staff in the Korean People's Army, he served as First Deputy Chief of Staff and Chief of Operations of the General Staff. Kim Won-hong (; born 17 July 1945) is a North Korean politician and military general. Early life and education Kim was born in what is now North Korea's North Hwanghae Province. Ri Myong-su
Ri Myong-su ( ko, 리명수; born on 20 February 1934 in Myongchon, North Hamgyong) is the former chief of General Staff of the Korean People's Army from 2016 to 2018. Ri was a confidant and military aide of the former North Korean leader Kim Jong-il. He was appointed the head of the Ministry of People's Security by Kim Jong-il in April 2011 and served in that role until removed from power by Kim Jong-un in February 2013. He was replaced by Choe Pu-il. He was made chief of General Staff of the Korean People's Army in February 2016 and promoted to vice marshal rank in April that year. Pak Yong-sik (born 1950) is a senior North Korean military officer and Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) politician, who served as the country's defence minister from 2015 to 2018.
