6GGG
6GGG (formerly 6GE) is a commercial radio station at 72 Chapman Road in Geraldton, Western Australia which has been broadcasting since 1937. It was once part of the Whitford Radio Network which also included 6PM Perth and 6AM Northam. In the late 1980's, it was part of the Bond Radio Network (owner: Alan Bond) headquartered at Perth's Radio 6PM. In 1991 it converted from 1008 AM to 96.5 FM and changed its callsign to 96.5 GGG-FM as the 2nd commercial FM station in Regional WA after opposition Geraldton station 98FM had launched earlier in 1991. The mid 90s saw 98FM and 96.5 merge into one company. 2005 saw 96.5 relaunch as WAFM as part of the Redwave Media Network. WAFM (Australia)
WAFM was a commercial radio network serving major regional towns in Western Australia, north of the capital Perth. It part of the Redwave Media group, which also included the Red FM and Spirit Network stations owned by Seven West Media. WAFM targeted the 18+ Listener with its Top 40 format. Programming came from its studios in Broome, Geraldton, Karratha and Port Hedland. WAFM In 2015 the WAFM stations were rebranded as Red FM. Jeff Newman (TV Personality)
Jeffrey William Newman OAM (born 4 February 1944) is a former Australian television presenter. He was the Seven Network's weather presenter in Perth from 1991 to 2009. Media career Newman began his media career with 6GE in Geraldton, Western Australia in early 1963, filling a vacancy left by the departure of Tony Barber. When STW-9 began broadcasting in 1965, Newman became host of ''The Jeff Newman Show''. After a disagreement with management, he crossed over to the rival TVW-7 in 1967 and worked in various positions within the industry, before joining ''Seven News'' in 1982 as a newsreader. He was the weather presenter on ''Seven News'' from 1991 to 2009. Newman was also known for his role as Western Australian presenter of ''It's Academic'', a popular school quiz program that ran for ten years from 1969 to 1979 and later revived from 2001 and 2005. Spirit Radio Network was a commercial radio network covering regional Western Australia. RadioWest was a group of 11 AM stations across the Southern half of Western Australia playing 'Real Music Variety', and targeting the 35+ audience. On 15 December 2016, the network renamed itself to Triple M as part of a nationwide move by parent company SCA to bring all its radio brands into line. Tasma Walton (born 19 August 1973) is an Australian television and film actress. Acting career Walton joined local radio station 6GE and trained as a production assistant and copy writer in her home town. She was accepted into the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) but dropped out after two years. She joined a small Sydney theatre, and landed a role as the love interest of Ian Moss in the music video for Tucker's Daughter off his 1989 debut album ''Matchbook''. In 1995, Walton played the recurring role of Rachel Watson in ''Home and Away''. In 1996, Walton was cast as Dash McKinley in the police drama series ''Blue Heelers''. Alan Louden Pearsall (21 May 1915 – 8 March 1944) was an Australian sportsman who played first-class cricket for Tasmania and Australian rules football in the Victorian Football League (VFL) with South Melbourne. Family The son of Benjamin James Pearsall (1880-1951), and Olive Mabel Pearsall, née Marsden, Alan Louden Pearsall was born at the Edinburgh Hospital, MacQuarie Street, Hobart, Tasmania on 21 May 1915. Anthony Ferraro Louis Barber (born 28 March 1940) is a British Australian Gold Logie award-winning television game show host, radio announcer singer and media personality, who has been active in the industry since the early 1960s. Biography Early life and radio career Barber was born in Oldham, Lancashire, England in March 1940. He has said that he "owes much of his enthusiastic and driving personality to a loving Irish grandma and a whole street full of aunts who kept the spirits high during the dark years of World War II."
