The 66th annual Sydney Film Festival was held from 5 to 16 June 2019. Comedy drama film '' Palm Beach'' opened the festival and musical romantic comedy film '' Yesterday'' was the closing film. Bong Joon-ho's dark comedy thriller film '' Parasite'' won the Sydney Film Prize. Dame Gaylene Mary Preston (born 1 June 1947) is a New Zealand filmmaker with a particular interest in documentary films. Early life and family Born in Greymouth on 1 June 1947, Preston was educated at Colenso High School (now William Colenso College) in Napier, New Zealand, Napier. She went on to study at the Ilam School of Fine Arts at the University of Canterbury from 1966 to 1968, and then the University of Hertfordshire, St Albans School of Fine Art in Hertfordshire, England, where she completed a Diploma of Art Therapy in 1974. Ben Lawrence is an Australian photographer and director of TV commercials and feature films. He is the son of Australian film maker Ray Lawrence. Ben Lawrence was born in London. In 2006 he was a recipient of the Association of Independent Commercial Producers award for "international excellence." In 2008 & 2009 he was nominated for an Australian Directors Guild award in the Best Direction of a Television Commercial category and was also recipient of the inaugural ADG, GRASS award. Sacha Polak (born 1982) is a Dutch film director. Career In 2012 Polak's feature film debut ''Hemel'' played at the 62nd Berlin International Film Festival. Additionally her short ''Brother'' and her step-mother Meral Uslu's film on which she was a script supervisor, all played at the festival as well. Teona (foaled 13 March 2018) is an Irish-bred, British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse. She showed promise as a two-year-old in 2020 when she won the second of her two races by nine lengths.
