The 62nd Field Artillery Regiment, RCA (french: 62e Régiment d'artillerie de campagne, ARC) is a militia unit of the Canadian Army that has its own military band and is located in Shawinigan, Quebec. It recruits primarily in Shawinigan, Joliette and Victoriaville. Origin Its oldest and most notable subunit is the 81st Field Artillery Battery, which was founded in the Eastern Townships in 1912 and relocated in Shawinigan, Mauricie in 1936. World War II The battery was called to active duty during World War II. Its members were trained in Ontario and the United Kingdom from 1940 to 1944. In 1944-45, the 81st Battery contributed to the Allies' effort in the Normandy Landings, which led to the Liberation of France. Anti-aircraft Unit In 1946-48, members of the Shawinigan-based C Company of the Régiment de Joliette joined those of the 81st Battery to form the 62nd Regiment. 62nd Reserve Artillery Regiment (Ireland)
The 62 Reserve Artillery Regiment was a combat support unit of then 2 Eastern Reserve Brigade of the Irish Reserve Defence Forces. The Regiment maintained field gun batteries in the Defence Forces Training Center in the Curragh, County Kildare and at McKee Barracks in Dublin City, and drew its members from all walks of life in the Kildare, Offaly and North Dublin areas. The members were volunteer reservists with no specific criteria essential to enlist apart from a basic medical examination. 62 Regiment was formed by the amalgamation of 6 and 7 Field Artillery Regiments following the re-organisation of the Reserve Defence Forces in 2005. The 62nd New York Infantry Regiment was an infantry regiment that served in the Union Army during the American Civil War. It is also known as the Anderson Zouaves. Organization It was raised under special authority of the War Department in New York City by Col. John Lafayette Riker in May and June 1861, in response to President Abraham Lincoln's call for 75,000 volunteers to suppress the insurrection in the rebellious Southern states of the United States of America.
