5th Canadian Screen Awards
The 5th annual Canadian Screen Awards were held on March 12, 2017, to honour achievements in Canadian film, television, and digital media production in 2016. Nominations were announced on January 17, 2017. Awards in many of the technical categories were presented in a series of galas, collectively called Canadian Screen Week, in the days leading up to the main ceremony. At the main ceremony, the film ''It's Only the End of the World'' and the television series ''Orphan Black'' won the most awards in film and television categories, with six and nine awards, respectively. Sony Centre For The Performing Arts
Meridian Hall is a major performing arts venue in Toronto, Ontario, and it is the country's largest soft-seat theatre. The facility was constructed for the City of Toronto municipal government and is currently managed by TO Live, an arms-length agency and registered charity created by the city. Located at 1 Front Street East, the venue opened as the O'Keefe Centre on October 1, 1960. From 1996 to 2007, the building was known as the Hummingbird Centre for the Performing Arts. From 2007 to 2019, it was known as the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts. On September 15, 2019, it was re-branded as Meridian Hall. Casino Rama
Casino Rama is a large casino, hotel, and entertainment complex located in the town of Rama, Ontario on the reserve land of the Chippewas of Rama First Nation. It is jointly owned by the Chippewas of Rama First Nation and the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, with operation of the casino contracted to Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Limited. Casino Rama is Ontario's only First Nations "commercial casino" (as opposed to a lesser class, charity casino) and the largest First Nations casino in Canada. Rob Stewart (December 28, 1979 – January 31, 2017) was a Canadian photographer, filmmaker and conservation biology, conservationist. He was best known for making and directing the documentary films ''Sharkwater'' and ''Revolution (2012 film), Revolution''. He drowned at the age of 37 while scuba diving in Florida, filming ''Sharkwater Extinction''. Early life Stewart was born in 1979, in Toronto, Ontario, the son of Sandra and Brian Stewart. He began underwater photography as a teenager, and became a scuba diving trainer at eighteen years old. He attended Lawrence Park Collegiate Institute and Crescent School (Toronto), Crescent School in Toronto as a youth. ''Kim's Convenience'' is a Canadian television sitcom that aired on CBC Television from October 2016 to April 2021.
