59th Japan Record Awards
The 59th Japan Record Awards was held on 30 December 2017. The Tokyo Broadcasting System Television network televised the show live from the New National Theatre Tokyo in Tokyo. Radio broadcast was through TBS Radio. The broadcast ran from 18:30 (JST) to 22:00 (JST). Yūki Amami and Shinichiro Azumi hosted the ceremony for the second time. The nominations and award winners were announced by TBS on 16 November 2017. The 59th Japan Record Award went to idol group Nogizaka46 for their song "Influencer". This was the second consecutive win for an artist under the Sony Music Entertainment Japan label (after Kana Nishino in 2016). Tsubaki Factory won the Best New Artist Award. The average audience rating for the second part (19:00 to 22:00) was 14.4%, down 0.1% from the previous year's broadcast. New National Theatre Tokyo
The is Japan's first and foremost national centre for the performing arts, including opera, ballet, contemporary dance and drama. It is located in the Shinjuku area of Tokyo. AKB48 (pronounced ''A.K.B. Forty-Eight'') is a Japanese idol girl group named after the Akihabara (''Akiba'' for short) area in Tokyo, where the group's theater is located. AKB48's producer, Yasushi Akimoto, wanted to form a girl group with its own theater and performing daily so fans could always see them live (which is not the case with usual pop groups giving occasional concerts and seen on television). This "idols you can meet" concept includes teams which can rotate performances and perform simultaneously at several events and "handshake" events, where fans can meet group members. Yuzu (band)
is a Japanese pop rock duo who debuted in 1997. Its members are and . Both of the band members come from Yokohama in Kanagawa Prefecture, and attended Okamura Junior High School. Their songs , "Reason", and were used as ending themes of the anime series '' Hunter × Hunter (2011)''. Yuzu started out as street musicians. At first, the band's name was "Light's", but Kitagawa disliked it, so they changed the name to "Yuzu".
