55th Filmfare Awards
The 55th Filmfare Awards were held on 27 February 2010 at the Yash Raj Studios in Mumbai, India. The awards given for 30 categories, out of which there were 3 special awards, 3 critics awards and 24 main awards for Hindi films released in 2009. There were 60 nominations for the top 10 categories, which were based on votes via web and newspaper forms. The award ceremony was hosted by Shahrukh Khan and Saif Ali Khan. '' Love Aaj Kal'' led the ceremony with 12 nominations, followed by ''3 Idiots'' with 11 nominations and ''Kaminey'' with 10 nominations. ''3 Idiots'' and ''Dev.D'' won 6 awards each, thus becoming the most-awarded films at the ceremony, with the former winning Best Film, Best Director (for Rajkumar Hirani) and Best Supporting Actor (for Boman Irani), and the latter winning Best Actress (Critics) (for Mahie Gill) and Best Supporting Actress (for Kalki Koechlin). Yash Raj Films (YRF) is an Indian film production and distribution company founded by veteran filmmaker Yash Chopra in 1970. It mainly produces and distributes Hindi and Punjabi films. Boman Irani
Boman Irani (born 2 December 1959) is an Indian actor, photographer and voice artist who works predominantly in Hindi cinema he has also worked in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. He has acted in more than a 100 films in his career. Early life Irani was born on 2 December 1959, in Bombay (now Mumbai) to an Irani Zoroastrian family. His father died 6 months before Irani was born (May 1959). Irani was dyslexic, as well as having ADHD and a lisp, which he eventually overcame. Vidya Balan
Vidya Balan (pronounced ; born 1 January 1979) is an Indian actress. Known for pioneering a change in the portrayal of women in Hindi cinema with her roles in female-led films, she is the recipient of several awards, including a National Film Award and seven Filmfare Awards. ''Paa'' () is a 2009 Indian Hindi-language comedy-drama film directed by R. Balki, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, and Vidya Balan. The film is inspired by the 1996 Hollywood film Jack as per some reports and is based on the relationship of a boy with a rare genetic condition known as progeria and his parents.
