50 metres hurdles is a distance in hurdling, usually only run in indoor competitions. Because very few contests are held over the distance, most of the fastest times recorded for the event were set during specially measured and timed races over longer distances, typically the 55 metres hurdles or 60 metres hurdles. Gloria Siebert ( Kovarik, born 13 January 1964 in Ortrand, Bezirk Cottbus) is a former East German hurdler. She won the silver medal in the 100 metres hurdles at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. Cornelia Oschkenat
Cornelia Oschkenat, (née Riefstahl; born 29 October 1961) is a German former track and field athlete who represented East Germany. She competed at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul. At the 1987 World Championships in Rome, she won a bronze medal in the 100 metres hurdles with a time of 12.46s as well as silver medal as a member of the East German 4 × 100 metres relay team. She also won the 1987 World Indoor 60 m hurdles title, two World Cup 100 m hurdles titles and three European Indoor 60 m hurdles titles. Her world indoor record for the 50 metres hurdles of 6.58 secs in 1988, still stands (as of 2019). Courtney Hawkins (born July 11, 1967) is an American former track and field athlete who competed in the sprint hurdles. He was a medallist at the Pan American Games and IAAF World Indoor Championships in 1995. He holds personal bests of 13.17 seconds for the 110-meter hurdles and 7.41 seconds for the 60-meter hurdles. Leif Robert Kronberg (born August 15, 1976 in Göteborg, Västra Götaland) is a Swedish male hurdler of Serbian descent. He finished 8th in the 110m hurdles final at the 2000 Olympics. Terrence Trammell (born November 23, 1978) is a retired American track and field athlete who was the silver medalist for the 110 meter hurdles at the 2000 and 2004 Summer Olympics, and three time silver medalist for the World Championships. Thomas Munkelt (born 3 August 1952) is a retired East German athlete, winner of 110 m hurdles at the 1980 Summer Olympics. Born in Zedtlitz, Bezirk Leipzig, East Germany, Thomas Munkelt was a classic high hurdler who dominated European hurdling in the 1970s and early 1980s. Munkelt was the first athlete to break the 7.50 seconds barrier in the 60m hurdles, when he ran a 7.48 seconds World Record in Budapest in 1983.
