''45 Degrees'' is the third studio album by Torres Strait Islander singer Christine Anu. Anu cites Melbourne-based producer Jarrad Rogers as the key catalyst to this musical re-awakening. Long runs with the stage show Kissing Frogs, and the birth of her second child Zipporah had left Christine a little hesitant about returning to the studio. "Basically, I wasn’t going to do another album until the right person was found," she states, "And I've been blessed. Our paths were meant to meet." In an interview with Paul Cashmere in March 2004, Anu said the album was 'self indulgent' and "We let each song evolve and the strong ones stayed and the other ones have gone into a catalogue to be resurrected somewhere down the track". Christine Anu
Christine Anu (born 15 March 1970) is an Australian singer, songwriter and actress. She gained popularity with the cover song release of the Warumpi Band's song " My Island Home". Anu has been nominated for 17 ARIA Awards. Early life Anu was born on 15 March 1970 in Cairns, Queensland, to a Torres Strait Islander mother from Saibai. Anu attended Emmaus College in Rockhampton where she graduated from in 1987 before studying at the National Aboriginal and Islander Skills Development Association in Sydney. Music career Anu began performing as a dancer and later went on to sing back-up vocals for the Rainmakers, which included Neil Murray of the Warumpi Band. Her first recording was in 1993 with " Last Train", a dance remake of a Paul Kelly song. The follow-up, "Monkey and the Turtle", was based on a traditional story. Jarrad Rogers
Jarrad Leith Rogers, aka "Mstr Rogers" is an Australian-British artist, songwriter and pop producer. Early life Jarrad played trumpet and classical piano from an early age. Studying piano under renowned concert pianist, Alexander Sumetski, he progressed to the Australian Music Education Board's highest grade. At 13, he formed a band with his brother and together they won studio time through a local band competition which sparked his interest in music production. Torres Strait Islanders () are the Indigenous Melanesian people of the Torres Strait Islands, which are part of the state of Queensland, Australia.
