443d Operations Group
The 443d Operations Group is an inactive United States Air Force unit. Its last assignment was with the 443d Airlift Wing. The 443d Troop Carrier Group was formed during World War II and played a crucial role in transporting Allied troops, evacuating wounded personnel, and hauling supplies in the China-Burma-India Theater of Operations. The group mainly supported Allied forces driving through Burma but also made flights to China. They received a Distinguished Unit Citation in September 1945 for transporting a Chinese army from Chihkiang to Nanking. After the war, the 443d trained as a Reserve troop-carrier unit and participated in tactical exercises during the Cold War. In 1991, it was redesignated as the 443d Operations Group. It was inactivated at Altus Air Force Base, Oklahoma on 1 October 1992, with its mission, personnel, and equipment reassigned to the 97th Operations Group. 2d Troop Carrier Squadron
The 2nd Troop Carrier Squadron is an inactive United States Air Force unit. It was last active in the reserve with the 65th Troop Carrier Group at Mitchel Air Force Base, New York where it was training with Curtiss C-46 Commandos. It was replaced by another unit, which absorbed its resources on 1 April 1953. The squadron was first activated as the United States built up its forces before its entry into World War II as the 2nd Photographic Squadron. It was initially equipped with Beechcraft F-2 Expeditors equipped for photographic mapping. The squadron operated primarily in the northern and western United States until 1944, although it flew early missions over Japan in the summer of 1944. Air Mobility Command (AMC) is a major command (MAJCOM) of the U.S. Air Force. It is headquartered at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, east of St. Louis, Missouri.
