435th Airlift Wing
The 435th Air Ground Operations Wing is an active unit of the United States Air Force, assigned to the United States Air Forces in Europe. It is stationed at Ramstein Air Base, Germany. The current commander is Colonel Bryan T. Callahan, who took command in July 2021, and his command chief is Command Chief Master Sergeant Corey J. Crow. The 435 AGOW is the second USAF wing solely dedicated to supporting battlefield airmen. It consolidated the tactical air control party and battlefield weather specialties of the 4th ASOG, the contingency communications support of the 435th Air and Space Communications Group, and the expeditionary support to assess, prepare and operate airfields for air expeditionary forces of the CRG. 4th Air Support Operations Group
The 4th Air Support Operations Group (4 ASOG) is an active unit of the United States Air Force, assigned to the 435th Air Ground Operations Wing. It is stationed at the Lucius D. Clay Kaserne in Wiesbaden, Germany. The group's members mainly support United States Army Europe and Africa units by providing Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) airmen to army units, as well as providing weather support in Europe and Africa. Airmen from the 4th ASOG also serve as trainers at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center in Hohenfels, Germany. A cadre (, , ) is the complement of commissioned officers and non-commissioned officers of a military unit responsible for training the rest of the unit. The cadre may be the permanent skeleton establishment of a unit, around which the full unit can be built if needed. The Hobson Plan was an organizational structure established by the United States Air Force (USAF) in 1948, following experimental organization in 1947. Known as the "Wing-Base Organization," it replaced the organization used by the United States Army Air Forces (AAF), the predecessor organization of the USAF, which used separate chains of command for combat and support units. Continental Air Command
Continental Air Command (ConAC) (1948–1968) was a Major Command of the United States Air Force (USAF) responsible primarily for administering the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve. During the Korean War, ConAC provided the necessary augmentation to the regular Air Force while it rebuilt itself under wartime conditions. Later, during the 1950s, it was a training force for reservists with no prior military service. ConAC provided peacetime airlift missions for the Air Force. 435th Operations Group
The 435th Operations Group is an inactive United States Air Force unit. Its last assignment was with the 435th Airlift Wing at Rhein-Main Air Base, Germany, where it was inactivated on 1 April 1995. The unit was first activated during World War II as the 435th Troop Carrier Group, a Douglas C-47 Skytrain transport unit that saw combat with IX Troop Carrier Command in Western Europe. The group flew paratroopers on airborne assaults on Normandy (Operation Overlord); Southern France (Operation Dragoon); the Netherlands (Operation Market Garden), and Germany (Operation Varsity). It also flew combat resupply missions in the relief of Bastogne in 1945. The 435th was awarded a Distinguished Unit Citation for its actions during the Normandy invasion. The 1st Combat Communications Squadron is a military communications unit of the United States Air Force. It is part of the 435th Air Ground Operations Wing, United States Air Forces in Europe.
