412th Aviation Support Battalion
The 412th Aviation Support Battalion was an Aviation Support Battalion under 12th Combat Aviation Brigade, Katterbach, Germany. History On 7 August 2006, the 601st Aviation Support Battalion and the 7th Battalion, 159th Aviation Regiment (7-159 AVN) were combined and re-designated as the 412th Aviation Support Battalion. Stationed at Shipton Kaserne, the new battalion was assigned to the 12th Combat Aviation Brigade, based in Katterbach, Germany. 159th Aviation Regiment (United States)
The 159th Aviation Regiment is an aviation regiment of the U.S. Army. History Initially formed from assets of the 308th Aviation Battalion (Combat), the 159th Aviation Battalion (Assault Support Helicopter) was constituted on 1 July 1968 and served in the Regular Army in Vietnam as a part of the 101st Airborne Division (Airmobile). Its Company B was reorganized and redesignated on 16 November 1987 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2d Battalion, 159th Aviation; however, it was inactivated 10 years later on 15 September 1997 before being redesignated on 16 October 1997 as Company B, 159th Aviation, and activated at Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia. Later it moved to Felker Army Airfield at Fort Eustis, VA. Joachim Wilhelm Gauck (; born 24 January 1940) is a German politician and civil rights activist who served as President of Germany from 2012 to 2017. Camp Taji , also known as Camp Cooke, is a military installation used by Iraqi and Multinational force in Iraq, Coalition forces near Taji, Iraq, Taji, Baghdad Governorate, Iraq. The camp is located in a rural region approximately north of the capital Baghdad. The 12th Combat Aviation Brigade is a Combat Aviation Brigade of the United States Army. It was first organized as the 12th Aviation Group at Fort Benning, Georgia, on 18 June 1965. Balad Air Base ( ar, قاعدة بلد الجوية) , is an Iraqi Air Force base located near Balad in the Sunni Triangle north of Baghdad, Iraq. Built in the early 1980s, it was originally named Al-Bakr Air Base. In 2003 the base was captured by the United States Armed Forces at the start of the Iraq War and was called both Balad Air Base and Anaconda Logistical Support Area (LSA) by the United States Army before being renamed Joint Base Balad on June 15, 2008. The base was handed back to the Iraqi Air Force on November 8, 2011, during the U.S. withdrawal from Iraq, after which it returned to being called Balad Air Base.
