44 Magnum
The .44 Remington Magnum, also known as .44 Magnum or 10.9x33mmR (as it is known in unofficial metric designation), is a rimmed, large-bore cartridge originally designed for revolvers and quickly adopted for carbines and rifles. Despite the ".44" designation, guns chambered for the .44 Magnum round, its parent case, the .44 Special, and the .44 Special's parent case, the .44 Russian all use diameter bullets.''Lyman Reloading Handbook'', 48th edition, 2002 The .44 Magnum is based on the .44 Special case but lengthened and loaded to higher pressures for greater velocity and energy. Famously called "the most powerful handgun artridgein the world" by the title character in '' Dirty Harry'', the .44 Magnum has since been eclipsed in power by the .45 Winchester Magnum, .454 Casull, .460 S&W Magnum, .475 Wildey Magnum, .480 Ruger, .50 Action Express, .500 S&W Magnum, .500 Bushwhacker, and the .600 Nitro Express; nevertheless, due in part to its more manageable recoil, ...

44 Caliber
.44 caliber is a family of large-caliber firearm cartridges and firearms, particularly revolvers. The most well-known is the .44 Magnum which uses a 0.429 to 0.430 inch diameter bullet, depending on jacket or cast. Though less common than the smaller .38 caliber family of cartridges, the caliber is popular with many shooters and the .44 Magnum in particular facilitated the rise of handgun hunting. Its role as the most powerful handgun cartridge has been superseded by various recently developed .45 caliber and .50 caliber handgun chamberings. The caliber was also common in American Civil War-era cap & ball revolvers such as the Colt Army Model 1860 and the Remington Model 1858, offering more stopping power than the .36 caliber revolvers of the time. Notably, the derringer that John Wilkes Booth used to assassinate Abraham Lincoln was .44 caliber. Cartridges The following dimensions are given in millimeter 330px, Different lengths as in respect of the electromagnetic s ...

44M Tas
The 44M Tas was a Hungarian heavy tank/ medium tank design of World War II. It was developed to combat heavily armored Soviet tanks encountered on the Eastern Front and to replace the older Turán I and Turán II tanks which Hungary operated, modernising Hungary's armoured forces. The Tas somewhat resembled the German Panther tank in terms of both looks and capabilities. It was to be well armored – up to 120 mm thick and with sloped armor. The main armament would likely have been a Hungarian built heavily modified anti-tank version of the 80 mm Bofors AA gun. The only prototypes built were destroyed when the Americans bombed the Weiss Manfréd factory in July 1944. Development and Design History By 1943, Hungarian tank production was becoming obsolete and was struggling against the more modern Soviet tanks. To solve this problem, Hungary started to develop the Turán III and Zrínyi assault guns. However, it still tried to buy the license of foreign vehicles ...

DAF 44
The DAF 44 is a small family car that was introduced in September 1966 by the Dutch company DAF. It was the first car to be built at the company's new plant at Born in Limburg. Styled by Michelotti, it represented a cautious move upmarket for the company which hitherto had produced, for the passenger car market, only the smaller, slower Daffodil model (subsequently rebadged as the DAF 33 to align with the form of nomenclature introduced with the 44). The 2 cylinder engine would have been familiar to any driver of the less powerful DAF 33, and the bore remained unchanged at 85.5 mm. Stroke was increased to 73.5 mm, however, giving an increase in engine displacement from 746 cc to 844 cc and an increase in claimed output from 28 bhp to 34 bhp. The compression ratio remained low enough to permit the use of relatively low octane fuel. Stopping power commensurate with the car's rather leisurely performance came from all-round drum brakes. An innovative ...

44 Nysa
44 Nysa is a large and very bright main-belt asteroid, and the brightest member of the Nysian asteroid family. It is classified as a rare class E asteroid and is probably the largest of this type (though 55 Pandora is only slightly smaller). Discovery It was discovered by Hermann Goldschmidt on May 27, 1857, and named after the mythical land of Nysa in Greek mythology. Physical properties In 2002 Kaasalainen ''et al.'' used 63 lightcurves from the Uppsala Asteroid Photometric Catalog (UAPC) to construct a shape model of 44 Nysa. The shape model is conical, which they interpreted as indicating the asteroid may actually be a contact binary. In 2003, Tanga ''et al.'' published results obtained from the Fine Guidance Sensor on the Hubble Space Telescope in which high-precision interferometry was performed on Nysa with the goal of a more accurate shape determination. Due to Hubble's orbit around the Earth, hours-long photometry sessions, as are normally used to resolve t ...

44 (number)
44 (forty-four) is the natural number following 43 (number), 43 and preceding 45 (number), 45. In mathematics Forty-four is a repdigit and palindromic number in decimal. It is the tenth 10-happy number, and the fourth octahedral number. It is a square-prime of the form ''p''2 × ''q'', and fourth of this form and of the form 22 × ''q'', where ''q'' is a higher prime. It is the first member of the first cluster of two square-primes; of the form ''p''2 × ''q'', specifically 22 × 11 = 44 and 32 × 5 = 45 (number), 45. The next such cluster of two square-primes comprises 22 × 29 = 116 (number), 116, and 32 × 13 = 117 (number), 117. 44 has an aliquot sum of 40 (number), 40, within an aliquot sequence of three composite numbers (44, 40, 50 (number), 50, 43 (number), 43, 1 (number), 1, 0) rooted in the prime 43-aliquot tree. Since the greatest prime factor of 442 + 1 = 1937 is 149 and thus more than 44 twice, 44 is a Størmer number. Given Euler's totient function, φ(44) = 2 ...
