Fifth Avenue
Fifth Avenue is a major and prominent thoroughfare in the borough of Manhattan in New York City. It stretches north from Washington Square Park in Greenwich Village to West 143rd Street in Harlem. It is one of the most expensive shopping streets in the world. Fifth Avenue carries two-way traffic from 142nd to 135th Street and carries one-way traffic southbound for the remainder of its route. The entire street used to carry two-way traffic until 1966. From 124th to 120th Street, Fifth Avenue is cut off by Marcus Garvey Park, with southbound traffic diverted around the park via Mount Morris Park West. Most of the avenue has a bus lane, though not a bike lane. Fifth Avenue is the traditional route for many celebratory parades in New York City, and is closed on several Sundays per year. ''Fifth Avenue'' is a lost 1926 American silent drama film directed by Robert G. Vignola and starring Marguerite De La Motte, Allan Forrest, and Louise Dresser. Plot As described in a film magazine review, Barbara Pelham, a young woman who arrives in New York City from the South to obtain an advance on her father’s cotton crop, is lured into staying at a disorderly house. It is here that Peter Heffner, the broker from whom she sought a loan, makes unwelcome advances to her. She flees the house just prior to it being raided by the police. Later she meets Neil Heffner, the son of the broker. A friendship that ripens to love forms between the young people. Fifth Avenue Theatre
Fifth Avenue Theatre was a Broadway theatre in New York City in the United States located at 31 West 28th Street and Broadway (1185 Broadway). It was demolished in 1939. Built in 1868, it was managed by Augustin Daly in the mid-1870s. In 1877, it became the first air-conditioned theatre in the world. In 1879, it presented the world premiere of ''The Pirates of Penzance'' by Gilbert and Sullivan and the New York premiere of ''H.M.S. Pinafore'', followed by other Gilbert and Sullivan operas throughout the 1880s. The theatre continued to present both plays and musicals through the end of the century. The 5th Avenue Cinema is a two-screen, 35mm movie film, 35-millimeter projection theater at 510 Southwest Hall Street in Portland, Oregon, in the United States, owned by Portland State University (PSU) and operated by the student-managed PSU Film Committee. Each term the committee selects a variety of films, often world cinema or art films, and screening is free to PSU students. The cinema is open to the public for a nominal fee. Fifth Avenue High School
Fifth Avenue High School is a defunct school located at 1800 Fifth Avenue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania's Bluff neighborhood, United States. Built in 1894 as a large Romanesque/Gothic Revival building, it served the Pittsburgh Public Schools until its closure in 1976. For over thirty years, the building sat empty, boarded up, and fenced off until it was eventually converted into other uses. Fifth Avenue was the first fireproof school in Pennsylvania and was home to the Alpha chapter of the National Honor Society. Its colors were red and white, and the mascot was the Archer, so chosen because of the school's architecture and hallways filled with Gothic and Victorian arches lined with red and white tile. The Chrysler Fifth Avenue was a trim level/option package or model name used by Chrysler for its larger sedans from 1979 to 1993. The Fifth Avenue name was no longer used after 1993 when Chrysler introduced its new LH-platform New Yorker and similar LHS. The title "Fifth Avenue" references a street in New York City in the United States which contains many upscale shops and cultural attractions. The 5th Avenue is a candy bar introduced in 1936, consisting of peanut butter crunch layers enrobed in chocolate. It is produced and marketed by The Hershey Company. The bar is similar to the Clark Bar which was first produced in Pittsburgh in 1917 by the D.L. Clark Company, now produced by the Boyer Candy Company of Altoona, Pennsylvania. It is also similar in composition to the Butterfinger candy bar, first developed and manufactured by Curtiss Candy Company, later manufactured by successors including Nestlé and Ferrara. History The candy bar was introduced in 1936 by Luden's, at the time a subsidiary of Food Industries of Philadelphia. The name was an attempt to associate the candy with fashionable 5th Avenue in New York City. 5th Avenue Station (PNR)
5th Avenue station (also called C-3 station) is a railway station located on the North Main Line in Caloocan, Metro Manila, Philippines. Facilities such as ramps and platforms were planned to be constructed near the level crossing with C-3 Road. The plans to rehabilitate this part of PNR's network were implemented but no concrete platforms were erected. PNR opened the 5th Avenue station as part of Caloocan-Dela Rosa line on August 1, 2018. It is a brand new stop for the line as it was not a designated station before in the line's history. As there are no platforms yet being erected, temporary stairs for the trains are added in the meantime to facilitate loading and unloading.
