The 3rd Yeşilçam Awards ( tr, 3. Yeşilçam Ödülleri), presented by the Turkish Foundation of Cinema and Audiovisual Culture (TÜRSAK) and Beyoğlu Municipality, honored the best Turkish films of 2009 and took place on March 23, 2010, at the Lütfi Kırdar Congress and Exhibition Hall in Istanbul, Turkey. Veteran Turkish actress Filiz Akın received the Special Achievement Award. Awards and nominations The nominees were announced at a press conference held on February 22, 2010, in Ghetto. Meltem Cumbul (born 5 November 1969) is a Turkish actress and TV personality. Biography Meltem Cumbul's career encompasses 16 feature films including Berlinale Golden Bear winner '' Head-On'' movie, 6 TV serials including ''Yılan Hikayesi'', at one time the most successful and the most viewed TV series in Turkey, as well as plays and musicals including ''Smokey Joe's Cafe'' and ''Taming of the Shrew''. ''On the Way to School'' ( tr, İki Dil Bir Bavul) is a 2008 Turkish documentary film directed by Orhan Eskiköy and Özgür Doğan. It has attracted 78,000 people in eight weeks, an impressive showing for a documentary. The film is an openhearted account of a young Turkish teacher during a school year in a Kurdish village in southeastern Turkey. Engin Günaydın (born 29 January 1972) is a Turkish actor and comedian. Biography Günaydın was born in Erbaa, Tokat Province. He began his university studies at Hacettepe University Conservatory, but in his second year he switched to Mimar Sinan University from where he graduated in theatre. In 1997, he had a small role in ''Otogargara'' which caused him to be cast in the television series ''Bir Demet Tiyatro'' where he played Zabıta İrfan. Mert Fırat
Şahabettin Mert Fırat (born 10 January 1981) is a Turkish actor and screenwriter. Life Fırat is of Turkish, Circassian and Arab descent. His father is singer Nihat Fırat. After finishing high school, he studied radio and television broadcasting in Sweden. He then returned to Ankara and took acting classes in Ankara University. Fırat graduated from the theatre department of Ankara University and took his master's degree in Film and Drama from Kadir Has University. Zeki Demirkubuz (born 1 October 1964 in Isparta, Turkey) is a contemporary Turkish film director, screenwriter, producer and film editor. Biography Demirkubuz dropped out of high school and started working in a textile workshop. He then worked as a street vendor for some time. After the 1980 coup d'état, he was imprisoned without trial for three years at the age of 17 for alleged communist activities and was tortured. At the time, he was studying Communications Engineering at Istanbul University. Following his graduation, he became involved with movie making. "Heroes and Villains" is a song by the American rock band the Beach Boys from their 1967 album ''Smiley Smile'' and their unfinished ''Smile'' project. Written by Brian Wilson and Van Dyke Parks, Wilson envisioned the song as an Old West-themed musical comedy that would surpass the recording and artistic achievements of "Good Vibrations". The single was Brother Records' first release and failed to meet critical and commercial expectations, although it was a hit record, peaking at number 12 in the U.S. and number 8 in the UK.
