3C (radio Station)
3C was a United Kingdom radio station, based in Clydebank, Dunbartonshire, Scotland and was provided by Radio Clyde, owned by Scottish Radio Holdings, later bought by EMAP Radio. It played country music. Its sister stations were ''Clyde 1'' and ''Clyde 2''. On 26 March 2007, the station told listeners that it was closing at the next day, stating that :''"It is the result of a brand review undertaken by our parent company, which operates a large number of radio stations and other media interests."'' At 5pm on 27 March 2007, they played their final song (Tennessee by The Wreckers) and began re-broadcasting Clyde 1 on Freeview to see out the final year of the five-year contract. Successors Bauer Radio launched Downtown Country in April 2015 as a sister service to Downtown Radio in Northern Ireland. The station is available on the Northern Ireland DAB multiplex. Downtown Radio is a Hot Adult Contemporary music radio station based in Newtownards, County Down, that serves all of Northern Ireland using a network of AM, FM and DAB transmitters. As of December 2022, the station has a weekly audience of 305,000 listeners according to RAJAR. History The station, also known as DTR or simply Downtown, began broadcasting on 16 March 1976 - the same day as Prime Minister Harold Wilson resigned. The station had a mini-scoop, breaking the news over an hour before BBC Radio Ulster. Downtown Radio has very much become part of the broadcasting landscape of the entire nine-county province of Ulster. Smooth Radio is a network of local radio stations broadcasting on FM and MW stations in the United Kingdom. Smooth Radio features a Soft Adult Contemporary radio format. Launched in March 2014, it replaced the national Smooth Radio that had launched in 2010 on FM, and most outlets of Gold on MW. Each FM station broadcasts localised breakfast with networked shows simulcast from London at all other times. Three of the six FM stations, and all eighteen AM frequencies, are owned and operated by Global, with the remaining three FM licences owned by Bauer Media Audio Ireland and run as a franchise. Digital radio is the use of digital technology to transmit or receive across the radio spectrum. Digital transmission by radio waves includes digital broadcasting, and especially digital audio radio services. CountryLine Radio is a UK-based radio station playing country music. Founded by Chris Stevens, it launched as Chris Country on 27 April 2013. The station is now owned by CountryLine, having purchased the station from Chris Stevens and Nation Broadcasting in March 2020 and its owners rebranded the station on 7 March 2022 to CountryLine Radio.
