37th Durban International Film Festival
The 37th Durban International Film Festival took place from the 16 to 26 June 2016. The festival included 150 screenings of feature films, documentaries and short films in 15 different venues in Durban. The Festiveal was opened with the world premiere of The Journeymen which took place in The Playhouse. Part of the 37th DIFF was the 11th Wavescape Film Festival, which showed 21 films with a focus on outdoor activities. Gabriel Mascaro
Gabriel Mascaro (born September 24, 1983) is a Brazilian visual artist and film director. Biography Gabriel Mascaro is a Brazilian filmmaker and visual artist. He started his career as a documentary-maker in 2008, with KFZ-1348 (co-directed by Marcelo Pedroso), Um Lugar ao Sol (High-rise, 2009) and Doméstica (Housemaids, 2013). That same year, he released the short film A Onda Traz, O Vento Leva (Ebb and Flow). 2014 saw his first narrative feature-film, Ventos de Agosto (August Winds), followed in 2015 by Neon Bull, Boi Neon (Neon Bull), which brought widespread acclaim. John Barker is a South African filmmaker in Johannesburg. He gained prominence through his feature directorial debut ''Bunny Chow (film), Bunny Chow'' (2006), which screened at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Perivi John Katjavivi, is a Namibian-British filmmaker. He has made several critically acclaimed films including ''Eembwiti'', ''The Unseen'' and ''Film Festival Film''.
