33rd Sarasaviya Awards
The 33rd Sarasaviya Awards festival (Sinhala: 33වැනි සරසවිය සම්මාන උලෙළ), presented by the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited, was held to honor the best films of 2015 Sinhala cinema on December 15, 2016, at the Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre, Colombo 07, Sri Lanka at 6:00 p.m. The ceremony was hosted by Kamal Addararachchi and Sangeetha Weeraratne. Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe was the chief guest at the awards nights. ''Maharaja Gemunu'' won the most awards with eleven including Best Film. Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre
The Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre ( si, නෙළුම් පොකුණ මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ රඟහල, ''nelum pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa rangahala''; often known as Nelum Pokuna; previously the National Performing Arts Theatre, prior to naming at the opening ceremony after which the President Mahinda Rajapaksa named it after himself) is a performing arts centre in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The theatre opened on 15 December 2011. Design and features The architecture of the building is inspired by the 12th-century ''Nelum Pokuna'' (lotus pond) in Polonnaruwa. Built by King Parakramabahu the Great, Polonnaruwa's Nelum Pokuna is shaped as a stylised eight-petalled lotus flower. The total estimated cost of the project is LKR 3,080 million. ''Pravegaya'' (English: velocity ) is a 2015 Sri Lankan Sinhala action thriller film directed by Donald Jayantha and produced by Sadesh Kumar. It stars Hemal Ranasinghe and Udari Perera with Jayalath Manoratne, Pubudu Chathuranga and Jackson Anthony in supporting roles. Music for the film iwas written by Bathiya and Santhush. Sedhavi Mudiyanselage Damitha Buddhini Abeyratne Bandara (born September 14, 1975), popularly as Damitha Abeyratne, is a Sri Lankan film and teledrama actress.
