307th Air Division
The 307th Air Division is an inactive United States Air Force organization. Its last assignment was with Twelfth Air Force at New Orleans Municipal Airport, Louisiana, where it was inactivated on 27 June 1949. The division was active briefly in Italy during World War II as the 307th Bombardment Wing but its personnel were used to man other units and it was disbanded a few months after its activation. The unit was reactivated in 1947 to command reserve heavy bomber units. History World War II The division was first activated at Bari, Italy in January 1944 as the 307th Bombardment Wing. The 307th had no subordinate units assigned but like its counterpart 305th Bombardment Wing, served as a source of personnel for Headquarters, Fifteenth Air Force. Continental Air Command
Continental Air Command (ConAC) (1948–1968) was a Major Command of the United States Air Force (USAF) responsible primarily for administering the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve. During the Korean War, ConAC provided the necessary augmentation to the regular Air Force while it rebuilt itself under wartime conditions. Later, during the 1950s, it was a training force for reservists with no prior military service. ConAC provided peacetime airlift missions for the Air Force. It was mobilized twice in 1961 and 1962 by president Kennedy for the Berlin and Cuban Missile Crisis. Lastly, it was used by president Lyndon B. The Fourteenth Air Force (14 AF; Air Forces Strategic) was a numbered air force of the United States Air Force Space Command (AFSPC). It was headquartered at Vandenberg Air Force Base, California.
