In electronics, the 300B is a directly-heated power triode vacuum tube with a four-pin base, introduced in 1938 by Western Electric to amplify telephone signals. It measures 6.4 inches high and 2.4 inches wide, and the anode can dissipate 40 watts. In the 1980s it started to be used increasingly by audiophiles in home audio equipment. Western Electric Export Corporation (typically known as simply Western Electric) is a manufacturer of vacuum tubes and high end audio gear. Based in Rossville, GA, they are best known for building an ultra-premium version of the 300B electron tube. They trace their roots (indirectly) back to 1872 and AT&T, when the original Western Electric was a baby Bell, before AT&T was split up, and many of the baby Bells were carved into smaller companies or had their assets sold off until little existed except the original trademarks and intellectual property. The original AT&T based company was shutdown in 1984. The beginning of the current incarnation was in 1995, when AT&T granted Charles G. The Western Electric Company was an American electrical engineering and manufacturing company officially founded in 1869. JJ Electronic, s.r.o is a Slovak electronic component manufacturer, and one of the world's remaining producers of vacuum tubes. It is based in Čadca, in the Kysuce region of Slovakia. A single-ended triode (SET) is a vacuum tube electronic amplifier that uses a single triode to produce an output, in contrast to a push-pull amplifier which uses a pair of devices with antiphase inputs to generate an output with the wanted signals added and the distortion components subtracted.
