34th Republican People's Party Ordinary Convention
The 34th Ordinary Convention of the Republican People's Party was held on 19 July 2012 in order to elect 60 members to the Party Council and 15 members to the High Disciplinary Board of the Republican People's Party of Turkey. 1,282 delegates were eligible to vote. Former party leader Altan Öymen was elected as the Speaker of the Convention and chaired the proceedings. Party Council 434 party members were a candidate to win a seat in the party council, with the top 52 candidates who won the most votes being elected. Furthermore, 8 members were elected from a Science, Culture and Executive quota as proposed by the party leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, for a total of 60 members. Engin Altay
Engin Altay (born 15 December 1963) is a Turkish politician from the Republican People's Party (CHP) who serves as a Member of Parliament for the electoral district of Sinop since the 2002. He was re-elected in 2007, 2011, June 2015 and November 2015. On 30 June 2011, Altay was elected as one of the three CHP parliamentary group leaders, serving alongside Muharrem İnce, Akif Hamzaçebi and later Levent Gök. İlhan Cihaner
İlhan Cihaner (born 23 February 1968, Kağızman), is a Turkish leftist politician and a former prosecutor. He's a parliamentary deputy for the Republican People's Party (CHP) since 2011. He was the Chief Public Prosecutor of Erzincan from 2007; he resigned in 2011 in order to stand for election. He is a suspect in the Ergenekon trials. He is a columnist for the ''soL'' newspaper. Hursit Gunes (born 23 April 1957) is a Turkish politician and professor of economics, who had served as deputy chairman of Republican People's Party (CHP); and he has been deputy of Kocaeli Province since 2011.
