32nd Buil Film Awards
The 32nd Buil Film Awards () ceremony is hosted by the Busan-based daily newspaper Busan Ilbo. It was held on October 5, 2023, at the Signiel Busan Grand Ballroom in Haeundae-gu, Busan. In the 32nd edition, awards were presented in 16 categories for 222 Korean films that were released from August 11, 2022, to August 10, 2023. Film awards ceremony was preceded by walking the red carpet for the first time this year and Esom is the solo host of the award show. The awards show attended by film industry celebrities was broadcast live on Naver TV. The film ''Concrete Utopia'' by Um Tae-hwa won 4 awards the best film award; best actor by Lee Byung-hun; star of the year (female) by Park Bo-young; and best cinematography by Cho Hyung-rae. Buil Film Awards
The Buil Film Awards () is a South Korean film awards ceremony hosted by the ''Busan Ilbo'' newspaper. It began in 1958 as one of the earliest film awards in the country. During the 1950s and 1960s, it was the biggest film awards event in the Busan region, and was held annually until 1973. The event went into a 34-year hiatus from 1974 to 2007 when the film industry lost its appeal due to government censorship and the burgeoning television industry. Hong Sang-soo (홍상수, born 25 October 1960) is a South Korean film director and screenwriter. Early life Hong's parents owned the film production company Cinetel Soul. Hong took the entrance exam and entered the theater department at Chung-Ang University in South Korea. ''The Point Men'' () is a 2023 South Korean action crime thriller film directed by Yim Soon-rye and starring Hwang Jung-min and Hyun Bin. The film is based on the 2007 South Korean hostage crisis in Afghanistan and the subsequent rescue mission. It was released on January 18, 2023 in South Korea and screened in Dolby Atmos. Yim Soon-rye (born January 1, 1961) is a South Korean film director and screenwriter. She is considered one of the few leading female auteurs of Korean New Wave cinema. Ryoo Seung-wan (born December 15, 1973) is a South Korean film director. Early life Ryoo Seung-wan was born in 1973 in Onyang, a small town in South Chungcheong Province. The Busan International Film Festival (BIFF, previously Pusan International Film Festival, PIFF), held annually in Haeundae-gu, Busan (''also'' Pusan), South Korea, is one of the most significant film festivals in Asia.
