31st Motorized Infantry Division (People's Republic Of China)
The 49th Infantry Division () was a division of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. It was formed in March 1952 and in August designated as a light division of the national defense force. It was the second PRC infantry division numbered 49; the previous 49th Division had been disestablished in 1950-51. The division was organized from units and detachments of the 5th Army Group left in Guizhou province. The division was composed of: *145th Infantry Regiment; *146th Infantry Regiment (former 137th); *147th Infantry Regiment (former 141st); *307th Artillery Regiment. From April 1955 the division was put under the Kunming Military Region's control. Guizhou
Guizhou (; formerly Kweichow) is a landlocked province in the southwest region of the People's Republic of China. Its capital and largest city is Guiyang, in the center of the province. The 5th Tank Division () was formed on April 1, 1969 from 323rd Tank Self-Propelled Artillery Regiment from 118th Army Division, 324th Tank Self-Propelled Artillery Regiment from 119th Army Division, 325th Tank Self-Propelled Artillery Regiment from 120th Army Division and 396th Tank Self-Propelled Artillery Regiment from 191st Army Division. The 14th Army was an army level formation of the People's Liberation Army. 14th Corps 14th Corps () was activated on February 14, 1949 basing on 4th Column of Zhongyuan Field Army and defecting Republic of China Army 110th Division. The Battle of Laoshan (Chinese: 老山戰役), known in Vietnam as the Battle of Vị Xuyên (Vietnamese: ''Mặt trận Vị Xuyên)'' was fought in 1984 between China and Vietnam as part of Sino-Vietnamese conflicts (1979–1991). It is considered the largest scale engagement involving both countries since the 1979 Sino-Vietnamese War. The 11th Corps (later the 11th Army Corps) () was a military formation of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. It was active from 1949 to 1952, with a six month break; and from 1969 to the end of 1985. It is currently inactive. In 1979 the corps took part in the Sino-Vietnamese War. In 1984 it again fought in Vietnam. It was stationed in the Kunming Military Region. First Formation The 11th Corps was activated on March 1, 1949, from the 3rd Column, Zhongyuan Field Army. Chengdu Military Region
The Chengdu Military Region was one of seven military districts and is located in the southwest of the People's Republic of China, covering Chongqing, Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, and the Xizang/Tibet Autonomous Region. It includes some of the area previously within the Kunming Military Region and has its headquarters in Chengdu. It was probably established in 1955. The Tibet Military Region was reduced to the status of a district in 1971. Kunming Military Region
The Kunming Military Region was a military region of the People's Liberation Army, established in December 1954 or 1955 and disestablished during the 1980s. It was incorporated within the Chengdu Military Region. In the 1954 reorganization that established 13 Military Regions, Xie Fuzhi was given command of the Kunming MR and Qin Jiwei was made deputy commander. Later Qin became commander of the region (1960–67). In March 1967, the Central Intelligence Agency identified some 35 field corps, of which two, the 13th and 14th, were within the Kunming MR. People's Liberation Army
The People's Liberation Army (PLA) is the principal military force of the People's Republic of China and the armed wing of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
