3. Deild Karla
3. deild karla (e. Men's Third division) is a football league in Iceland. It is the fourth level in the Icelandic football league system. The league was reformed into a 10-team double round-robin tournament for the 2013 season, with the introduction of the newly established 5th level of the Icelandic football league system, 4. deild karla. Previous formats Ever since 1982, the first season of 3. deild karla (then named 4. deild karla), and throughout the 2012 season, it was the lowest division in the league system, and as a consequence did not have a fixed number of teams. All who wished to enter and could fill certain requirements were allowed to compete, and between each season some teams quit and some new teams came in, sometimes after having previously quit. There were various formats used during the 31 seasons when Division 3 was the lowest league, the latest version using group stages and then eight-team playoffs to decide two promoted teams. Ungmennafélagið Sindri, commonly known as Sindri, is an Icelandic multi-sports club from the town of Höfn located on the east coast of Iceland. It fields departments in basketball, football, gymnastics, swimming, track & field and volleyball. Basketball Men's basketball History After a hiatus, Sindri's basketball department was re-started in 2005 with the arrival of Arnar Guðjónsson and Skúli Ingibergur Þórarinsson. On April 14, 2018, Sindri won Division II and achieved promotion to Division I. In May 2018, the club hired Mike Smith, the former assistant coach of the Luxembourg men's national basketball team, as their head coach. On 1 February 2019, the team parted ways with Smith after the team winning only 1 if its 15 games. Skúli Ingibergur Þórarinsson took over from Smith on interim basis. Magni Grenivík
Magni Grenivík is an Icelandic sports club from the village of Grenivík, mainly known for its football team. The club has a football team currently playing in the second tier of Icelandic football also known as Inkasso-deild karla. Magni was founded in 1915 by Magnús Björnsson making it one of the oldest teams in Icelandic football history. Stadium Magni play their matches at Grenivíkurvöllur but also play at Boginn in Akureyri if the pitch condition is poor as is common during the preseason. Seating and the new facilities were installed at Grenivíkurvöllur due to their promotion to the second tier of Icelandic football. The amount of seats are approximately 360 with plenty of space around the field as well. Akranes
Akranes () is a port town and municipality on the west coast of Iceland, around north of the capital Reykjavík. The area where Akranes is located was settled in the 9th century; however, it did not receive a municipal charter until 1942. History Akranes was settled in the 9th century by the brothers Þormóður and Ketill, sons of Bresi, who came from Ireland. The town started to form in the mid-17th century as a fishing village. In 1942, it was formally chartered, and in the following years it had the biggest surge in population in its history.
