3. deild menn is the fourth tier of football in the Faroe Islands. The majority of teams participating in the league are C or D sides of other Faroese clubs. At the end of the season two teams are promoted to 2. deild. There is no relegation from the league, as 3. deild is the lowest league in the Faroese football ladder. Faroe Islands
The Faroe Islands ( ), or simply the Faroes ( fo, Føroyar ; da, Færøerne ), are a North Atlantic island group and an autonomous territory of the Kingdom of Denmark. They are located north-northwest of Scotland, and about halfway between Norway ( away) and Iceland ( away). The islands form part of the Kingdom of Denmark, along with mainland Denmark and Greenland. The Faroe Islands Cup (, literally the Prime Minister Cup) is the main football cup competition in the Faroe Islands. The first edition was played in 1955. History The HB–TB decade The first decade of the competition was marked by the alternance of titles between HB and TB. Only in its eleventh year, the cup saw a different champion, with B36 defeating rivals HB in the final. Subsequent years In the subsequent editions, the other former finalists also got their first titles; KÍ in 1966, and VB in 1974. 1970 was the only time a final was not played, as the Faroe Islands Sports Association (ÍSF) choose to annul the competition after KÍ, and later VB, refused to play against HB in Tórshavn. Skála Ítróttarfelag (Skála ÍF) is a Faroese football club based in Skáli, municipality of Runavík. The club was founded on 15 May 1965. They currently play in the Betrideildin, which is the top football league of the Faroe Islands. They were promoted to the top league after winning the 2015 season of 1, deild with 70 points. Klaksvíkar Ítróttarfelag II, or simply KÍ II, is a Faroese football club based in Klaksvík. It is the reserve team of the Faroe Islands Premier League club KÍ Klaksvík. Reserve teams in the Faroe Islands play in the same league system as their senior team, rather than in a reserve league, but they cannot play in the same division as their senior team, so KÍ II is ineligible for promotion to the Faroe Islands Premier League and also cannot play in the Faroe Islands Cup. FF Giza
Fótbóltsfelagið Giza, commonly known as FF Giza, was a Faroese football club from Tórshavn. History The club was founded in 2008 by some friends, who played for another club called NÍF (Nólsoyar Ítróttarfelag, founded in 1968) at the time. Along with dreams of building a new superpower in Faroese football, these young men wanted a place to call home. The club has initially played its home matches in Argir before moving to Tórshavn.
