2LT (AM)
2LT is an Australian AM radio station based in Lithgow and serving the Central West, and Blue Mountains regions of New South Wales. It was opened in July 1939. History Established in July 1939 by Lithgow Broadcasters Pty Ltd., Radio 2LT broadcasts from studios located on the Great Western Highway in Bowenfels, before relocating in 1974 to a purpose built facility at 289 Main St, Lithgow where it remains to this day. The station operated as part of Macquarie's Central Western Network and broadcast the network's programming as well as local content. In 1980 2LT became the first regional station in Australia to achieve multiple national broadcast industry awards. On 30 September 1984 the station radically retooled, changing frequency from 1395 kHz to 900AM and call sign to 'Radio 90' to reflect the dial repositioning and the expansion of the service into the broader Central West region. Lithgow, New South Wales
Lithgow is a town in the Central Tablelands of New South Wales, Australia and is the administrative center of the City of Lithgow local government area. It is located in a mountain valley named Lithgow's Valley by John Oxley in honour of William Lithgow, the first Auditor-General of New South Wales. Lithgow is on the Great Western Highway, about west of Sydney, or via the old mountain route, Bells Line of Road, from Windsor. At June 2021 Lithgow had an estimated urban population of 21,556. Brian Bury
Brian Frederick Bury (born 14 June 1937) is an Australian former radio and television personality and weather presenter, best known for his tenure on the Nine Network's breakfast show ''Today'' as weathermen from the program's inception in 1982 until 1990. He subsequently went into radio before retiring in 2003 Career Bury begain his career in radio broadcasting before the move into television. Johnny Tapp (race Caller)
John Frederick Tapp OAM (born 1941 in Ramsgate, New South Wales ) is an Australian former racecaller based in Sydney, Australia. Career During a career spanning thirty-three years it is estimated that he has called over 50,000 individual races and became the voice of Australian racing to a whole generation. As a child John developed a fascination with listening to famous racecaller of the day Ken Howard on the Wireless Radio, calling races on a Saturday afternoon. During the time there was no broadcast of mid-week race meetings, so John began painting Paddle Pop sticks the same colours as the jockeys wore on famous horses of the day and learnt his craft by tossing the sticks into the stormwater drain that ran behind his childhood home and then ‘calling’ the ensuing races as the sticks floated off. Alan Belford Jones AO (born 13 April 1941 or 1943) is an Australian former radio broadcaster. He is a former coach of the Australia national rugby union team and rugby league coach and administrator. Raymond Morris Hadley OAM (born 27 September 1954) is an Australian talkback radio broadcaster and a rugby league football commentator for Channel Nine. He presents 2GB Sydney's Monday to Friday morning show, and leads the Continuous Call Team, a rugby league-based talkback radio panel program. Move FM (ACMA callsign: 2ICE) is an Australian FM radio station serving the Lithgow region in the Central Tablelands of New South Wales. It was opened in 1996 as KISS 95.3. History In 1996 Midwest Radio Network sought and was granted a licence to establish an FM radio station to complement 2LT. The company was granted a licence to broadcast on 95.3 MHz and began operating as KISS 95.3. Later a frequency conflict with a Sydney station led to a change to 107.9 MHz and a name change. Finally in 2011 the station was renamed to MoveFM. On 15 April 2004 Move FM's former frequency was auctioned for $106 million by the Australian Broadcasting Tribunal. The Blue Mountains are a mountainous region and a mountain range located in New South Wales, Australia.
