28th Brigade (Australia)
The 28th Brigade was a formation of the Australian Army during World War II. Raised in April 1941, the brigade consisted of Australian Army Reserve, Militia units who were assigned to carry out defensive duties on the New South Wales Central Coast (New South Wales), Central Coast. After being mobilised for war in December 1941, the brigade mounted defensive duties throughout 1942 and 1943, defending against a possible Japanese invasion. As this threat passed, the brigade's role diminished throughout 1943. Eventually, the brigade was disbanded in December 1943 having never seen combat. 28th Indian Brigade
The 28th Indian Brigade was an infantry brigade of the British Indian Army that saw active service with the Indian Army during the First World War. Formed in October 1914, it defended the Suez Canal in early 1915, ended the Ottoman threat to Aden in July 1915, took part in the Mesopotamian Campaign in 1916 and 1917, before finishing the war in the Sinai and Palestine Campaign. It remained in Palestine until it was broken up in 1920. The 28th Indian Infantry Brigade was an infantry brigade formation of the Indian Army during World War II. 28th (Thames and Medway) Anti-Aircraft Brigade (28 AA Bde) was an air defence formation of the British Territorial Army created in 1925 to command anti-aircraft units in Kent and around the militarily important Medway Towns, which it defended during the Second World War. In 1940 the brigade was responsible for the defences on the south side of the Thames Estuary including the Royal Naval Dockyard at Chatham and the Port of Dover. The 28th Armoured Brigade was an armoured brigade formation of the British Army, raised during the Second World War. History In 1939, it started off as the 2nd Armoured Reconnaissance Brigade. After the Dunkirk evacuation, with the lack of Armoured vehicles, it was converted into the 3rd Motor Machine Gun Brigade on 1 December 1940. As more equipment became available, it was eventually converted into the 28th Armoured Brigade and served in the United Kingdom throughout the war, under the command of the 9th Armoured Division. The 28th Expeditionary Combat Aviation Brigade is a heavy aviation unit of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.
