''24 Hours'' is a bestselling novel written by American author Greg Iles. It was published in 2000 by Putnam (New York). The 2002 film '' Trapped'' is based on this book. Plot summary Joe Hickey is a serial criminal working to extort money from wealthy doctors by kidnapping their children under a 24-hour ransom deadline designed to minimize police involvement. In what he decides will be his final kidnapping, he abducts Abby Jennings, child of Dr. Will Jennings, whom Joe Hickey blames for his mother's death. Abby has diabetes and her parents begin to panic that she will die if they cannot rescue her in time. Screenplay In 2002, Iles wrote the screenplay ''24 Hours'' from his novel of the same name. Greg Iles
Greg Iles (born 1960) is a novelist who lives in Mississippi. He has published seventeen novels and one novella, spanning a variety of genres. Early life Iles was born in 1960 in Stuttgart, West Germany, where his physician father ran the US Embassy Medical Clinic. He was raised in Natchez, Mississippi, the setting of many of his novels. After attending Trinity Episcopal Day School, he graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1983. Career Iles spent several years as a guitarist, singer, and songwriter in the band Frankly Scarlet. He quit the band after he was married and began working on his first novel, ''Spandau Phoenix'', a thriller about Nazi war criminal Rudolf Hess. ''Spandau Phoenix'' was published in 1993. In criminal law, kidnapping is the unlawful confinement of a person against their will, often including transportation/asportation. Don Roos
Donald Paul Roos (born April 14, 1955) is an American screenwriter and film director. Life and career Roos was born in upstate New York into a conservative Roman Catholic family of mostly Irish descent. He attended the University of Notre Dame in Indiana. After graduating, Roos moved to Los Angeles, where he pursued a television screenwriting career. Roos supported himself by working as a word processor, and to this day jokes that he has that as a fall-back plan.
