23rd FAMAS Awards
The 22nd Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences Awards Night was held in 1975. This ceremony gave recognition to the movies that was made for the year 1974. The year 1974, was a banner year for the Philippine movie industry, producing quality movies like ''Tinimbang Ka Ngunit Kulang'', ''Tatlo, Dalawa, Isa''; ''Ang Pinakamagandang Hayop sa Balat ng Lupa'', ''Alala Mo, Daigdig''; ''Fe, Esperanza, Caridad'', '' John en Marsha''; and ''Patayin Mo Sa Sindak Si Barbara''. Filipino Academy Of Movie Arts And Sciences Award
The Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences Awards (also known as the FAMAS Awards) are the annual honors given by the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS), an organization composed of award-winning writers and movie columnists, for achievements in Philippine cinema for a calendar year. Members of the academy including avid movie viewers, fans or enthusiasts cast their votes on who should win the statuettes in the different categories they were nominated. Established in 1952, it is the oldest existing film industry award-giving body in the Philippines (as of 2013) and one of the oldest in Asia. Christopher Strauss de León (born October 31, 1956) is a Philippine film actor and politician. He is recognized as the “''King of Philippine Drama''” has appeared in over 120 films since the early 1970s. Gina Pareño (; born Geraldine Acthley; October 20, 1947) is a Filipina actress. Early life Pareño was born to a German American father and a Filipina mother. Career She started her career in the 1960s as an extra in several films and then later on became one of the artists of Sampaguita Pictures. Jesús Jorge Ejército (; July 10, 1939 – August 8, 1988), better known as George Estregan or George Estregan Sr., was a Filipino ''mestizo'' film actor. Ramon Bautista Revilla Sr. (born Jose Acuña Bautista; March 8, 1927 – June 26, 2020), popularly known simply as Ramon Revilla Sr., was a Filipino actor who served as Senator of the Republic of the Philippines. Jose Maria Marfori Asuncion (March 28, 1939 – July 19, 2003), better known by his stage-name Vic Vargas, was a Filipino film actor and judoka.
