The 22nd Lumières Awards ceremony, presented by the Académie des Lumières, was held at the Théâtre de la Madeleine in Paris on 30 January 2017 to honour the best in French films of 2016. The Lumières Award (french: Lumières de la presse internationale) is a French film award presented by the ''Académie des Lumières'' to honor the best in the French language, French-speaking cinema of the previous year. The awards ceremony is organized by the Académie des Lumières which consists of over 200 representatives of the international press based in Paris. Today it is regarded as one of the most prestigious French film industry awards, equivalent to the Golden Globe Award presented by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. ''Nocturama'' is a 2016 thriller film written and directed by Bertrand Bonello. It was released in France on 31 August 2016, and in the US by Grasshopper Film on 11 August 2017. It tells the story of a group of young, multiracial radicals committing a series of terrorist attacks in Paris. Plot The first hour of the film follows a group of young revolutionaries as they orchestrate an elaborate plan that involves the planting of bombs across the city of Paris.
