227th Mixed Brigade (Spain)
The 227th Mixed Brigade ( es, 227.ª Brigada Mixta),Carlos Engel, ''Historia de las Brigadas Mixtas del E. P. de la República'', 1999 was a mixed brigade of the Spanish Republican Army in the Spanish Civil War. It was formed in the spring of 1938 in Catalonia and had four battalions, the 905, 906, 907 and 908. History The 227th Mixed Brigade was established on 22 April 1938 and placed under the 42nd Division of the XV Army Corps, at the time part of the Agrupación Autónoma del Ebro (A.A.E.). The command of the unit was assigned to Militia Lieutenant Tomás Guerrero Ortega. The Chief of Staff leader was Tomás Sánchez Lorda and the political commissar was Lorenzo Arcones Grande. ''Vértice'' ( Spanish: ''Vertex'') was a monthly Falangist magazine published in San Sebastián, Spain, between 1937 and 1946. Its subtitle was ''Revista nacional de la Falange''. From late 1937 it was changed to ''Revista nacional de Falange Española Tradicionalista y de las J.O.N.S''. The magazine was one of the early propaganda publications which supported the rule of Francisco Franco. Corbera d'Ebre is a municipality in the ''comarca'' of la Terra Alta in Catalonia, Spain. Auts () is a mountain chain that is located southeast of Mequinenza, close to the Ebro river in the Bajo Cinca comarca, Aragon, Spain. Its maximum elevation is 434 metres. The Nationalist faction ( es, Bando nacional) or Rebel faction ( es, Bando sublevado) was a major faction in the Spanish Civil War of 1936 to 1939. It was composed of a variety of right-leaning political groups that supported the Spanish Coup of July 1936 against the Second Spanish Republic and Republican faction and sought to depose Manuel Azaña, including the Falange, the CEDA, and two rival monarchist claimants: the Alfonsist Renovación Española and the Carlist Traditionalist Communion.
